Thoughts on Nationwide Current Account?

Does anyone where bank with Nationwide? Do you have any experiences to relate before I decide to switch? It looks pretty good but you never know when it comes to unexpected little 'issues' or what their customer service is like...

No issues here since 2000.0

I have been a saver and current account holder with Nationwide for many years. I have had many causes for complaint over the years but only one related to a current account. (A £500 pm standing order set up as £5000pm!). This was quickly rectified when I pointed it out and I was not left out of pocket.
The online banking service is excellent and there are new products paying interest.
I am happy to recommend it.0 -
I've been with them for 20 ish years and can totally recommend them.0

Yep - I opened a FlexAccount in 1987 when they first came out and I've had it ever since, and can thoroughly recommend them. Customer service used to be superb, now it's only very good but still seems to be as good as or better than other financial institutions I've dealt with.
And it's a Mutual if that sort of thing is important to you.0 -
Another thumbs up from me!
Plus, always friendly staff at the Telephone Bank the odd time I have to call them.
I have a £500 overdraft with them and use it every month. I was paying just over £4 each month in interest to Nationwide. I have just opened a current account with Citibank as they give you a £500 overdraft interest free. Will see how I get on with them, but will keep Nationwide for now, just incase.
The only reason for me switching is to save the interest charge really and nothing else about the Nationwide.0 -
Nothing special but not much better out there.
Very poor savings rates same as anywhere else really.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
OK accounts but cannot touch Santander 123 in terms of overall value.
Having said that, I have Santander 123, FlexDirect and FlexPlus (and a bunch of others elsewhere) because each offers different benefits to me.0 -
I have had a Flexaccount since they came out although I do not use it as my main account.
Overall I like Nationwide (been with them since 1977). In recent times I have found them more helpful than Santander (who are getting better) and find I get through to a person more quickly with them than most banks.
If they offered a clone of the Santander 123 account I would switch to them.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
I have only recently joined nationwide last year, have held a santander and hsbc current account in the past and currently also hold lloyds and co-op accounts. Have to say for me as an overall package this is probably the best current account provider I have used. Customer service is always great with nationwide.0

We have two current accounts with them and find NW very flexible.
