Got my first assignment with GAP next Thursday. I have printed off the store evaluation form and instructions as they were on my confirmation email.

Am I supposed to receive anything else before going or is that it?

    Cheers.

Don't think so, you sound like you've got it all well planned!

Just remember that GAP are reasonably strict so when they say you need a receipt you need to make absolute sure you get one as they'll try and riggle out of paying you - they'll ask you for information from the receipt too so you sadly can't blag your way around it if you forgot....

    Good luck!

A question from a wannabe mystery shopper

I'm already registered with the tax office to fill in a tax return (for other purposes - we let a house). Do I need to inform them additionally that I'm doing mystery shopping or just include it on my return.

(I use the online submission, so it's not like they have to send me additional books)

I 'd hate to spend any additional income on paying a fine!!!!

I apologise if this has been covered numerous times before but I'm at work and haven't time to scan this thread....

I've got 2 shops planned for this weekend, my Sunday one the paperwork came through straightaway but the Saturday one keeps saying 'check after Thursday 28th June'. I won't be able to get online tomorrow morning before the visit so I'm panicking now!

It's with GFK and I notice that they ask for everyone with queries to email, not phone, and it takes up to 24 hours for a response  so looks like I might be stuffed :(

    What should I do??

  • Does anyone know how the TNS coffee shop payments work? This is the one with the very generous fee of £0! There is however a reimbursement for a coffee and biscuit which would be more than the said items. Do they just pay out this amount regardless, or do they pay the exact cost? I am finding the brief a bit ambiguous.

Yes you do need to inform them that you will be doing self employed work. You also need to sort out your class 2 NI contributions as well. You must do this within 3 months of starting self employment or you'll be fined.

Have a look at the self employed section on here for more info:

Here I go again on my own....

Yes, it's a real ripoff, isn't it! I only do it because I like the coffee so much and I can 'pop' in on the way to work (hardly a pop, as they make you stay 20 minutes!!!!)

They will reimburse only what you spend up to the max £7, plus £3 for travel. The trick is to spend the whole £7 - you are allowed to buy extra things. Buy lunch to take away, chocolate covered cocoa beans (these are £1, so easy to add on if the sub-total says you have underspent), extra yummy pan chocolat and/or overpriced but delicious muffins. I really don't think their food is worth it, and would never buy it normally, but their coffee is the best.
