be careful with the casino that you take note - it's a MASSIVE report and you'd be better to take it with you and sit on the bog every now and then to take notes. You need to remember about 8 peoples' names and descriptions and need to strictly visit each area. We got back home to fill in the report and we missed so much. It really is too much for one job but having said tha it was so much fun!

AND you get free soft drinks on the gaming floor with the higher stakes! :D

It's a great job but like I said, remember to take your report and fill it in while you're there!

you only get to do this once so enjoy it!
  • Thanks Timmne. I usually make notes in my diary, but I'll try and find a handbag big enough to fit the questionnaire in.

Re-reading my post I think I may have made it sound a bit daunting...

I'll rephrase it a bit - the report is massive BUT it's split into nice chunks so if you do each area of the casino seperately and take notes inbetween each you'll be fine. Just make sure no-one notices you going to the toilet all night - they may think you're either ill or a weirdo!

Oh no, your post was a great help.

Would I look out of place texting a lot? I can write text messages and save them in my outbox for use later.

I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions.
Whats the food like? (I'm getting a bit fed up of burger and chips type food)
Is £50 a reasonable budget for food, drinks and betting?

I'm nervous about casinos, but so excited. I have never gambled on anything other than the lottery, so I havn't a clue what to do, so i'll be asking lots of questions.

why not take a phone / mp3 player on voice record, leave it on throughout your visit and leave verbal notes, then you can go back and rate what people actually said etc.

If you do it on a pc when you get home, you can skip through sections.

    Just a thought.

If it's the casino brand that also do bingo then we're dancing the same dance - if not then my help will only be general! Here goes...

Texting a lot should be fine - casinos are far more casual then I thought they would be - especially this brand. The only thing I would be careful of is texting near the gaming tables as there may be an accusation of you cheating or something - just speculating really so this is up to you...

Food was great - really good quality and mid range food. I think we spent a touch over £20 for two meals and a couple of drinks.

£50 is fine for spending, you shouldn't go over it - but bear in mind that you need to try and keep hold of notes as to buy chips at a table you need to hand the croupier a note rather than coins to buy chips. I would reserve a tenner for the machines, £20 for the meal and 2 x £10 for the tables (I think you have to play at 2 tables). The great thing is you can play on the 2p machines and keep going for hours :)

I wouldn't be nervous if I were you - the tour they give you at the start is really helpful but be sure to ask if you don't understand anything. I was worried about the tour thinking I'd look like a bit of a t!t to all the regulars but it's fine - you're absolutely not alone and there are tours going on all the time.

Any more questions pls ask - I would hate someone to be worried about this job - if I can do it anyone can!
  • Hi

This is the first time i have posted on one of these forums and i have a few questions i'm hoping someone could help me with please. I'm currently trying to save for a deposit for a house with my girlfriend and would find any extra income useful, particularly as this might prevent me from spending money by keeping me occupied!

Firstly, how much do you get paid for doing a mystery shop? Can it vary and if so what is a kind of ball park figure?

Secondly, how do you sign up to do them?

Thanks for any help anyone can give

Hi mate, firstly, have a look at the first page of this thread for who to contact to start mytery shopping - very helpful, also shows you what to do re tax etc.

As far as how much you get paid is concerned - a ball park figure would be £5 for shops where you get something in return (a night out, meal, drink etc) and £10 where you don't (most commonly banks and 'purchase not required' shops).

I find it's not really for the money that I do it (although it helps), more the fact that my GF and I eat out all the time for even cheaper than free! Also you don't have to go food shopping quite so often ;)

    Hope this helps....
  • Thanks for that Timne, most useful and very speedy reply! I'll look into it, any extra cash is always useful, although i see what you mean about perhaps not doing it solely to earn, but rather to save.

Are you aware of any other ways of generating a little extra cash, short of taking on another job?! I am attempting to trawl through all the other posts although this computer is about as fast as a dizzy snail
