Can I ask what merchandising and auditing work entails?

Merchandising - going into a store on behalf of a manufacturer with the aim of increasing sales their product. You might have to increase shelf space, set up secondary displays (such as putting a display of biscuits next to the tea/coffee for link sales), add point of sale material (posters, shelf edge labels, shelf wobblers) or set up promotional stands (those plastic/cardboard temporary stands you see in shops). You need to be fairly fit as sometimes you need to carry stock out of the warehouse to top up the fixture or your promo stand. You might also have to speak with other store staff, such as informing the department about promotions or dealing with stock control for missing shelf labels or stock/ordering errors.

Auditing - going into a store on behalf of the manufacturer and reporting what is there. Like a sort of snapshot of what is going on at that moment in time. Typical things to find out are stock levels, number of facings for each product, shelf measurements and/or floor space allocated to certain products. Ususally you don't need top speak to staff or fix any problems while you are there. Sometimes the work is done openly, so store are aware you are there. Sometimes it's covert, and you collect info secretly like mystery shopping.

In both cases a digital camera is useful. Sometimes photos are compulsory. Othertimes it's useful to take a picture of a problem so companies can see exactly what the problem is, or you can send pictures to show what you have achieved in store for brownie points :D
Here I go again on my own....

Argh! I've just had the worst MS shop in a mobile phone store.

They guy was really really pushy. When I said I didn't have my bank details with me he still tried to get me to sign up. He offered to keep my handset to one side so that I could come back later to sign up- he took my name and address, asked me how long I lived at the address - I asked him if he was credit checking me? he said NO. He got stuck and went for help. His manager came over , took one look at the screen and said "you must have a good credit score, XXX must like you thay have given you 2 contracts" - I was livid, I said I thought you were not doing a credit check and the sleazy sale guy just said Oh, I had too!

I made my excuses and left, promising to return later. I asked for the notes but he told me I didn't need it everything is on the comouter. So now I don't have enything to send to Gap. I am waiting for them to get back to me and have made a complaint against the sleaze.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest!

When you look at your paperwork, It says "Please click here to load your letter of authorization" click on that link and it should display the letter for you to print off.
