They guy was really really pushy. When I said I didn't have my bank details with me he still tried to get me to sign up.He offered to keep my handset to one side so that I could come back later to sign up- he took my name and address, asked me how long I lived at the address - I asked him if he was credit checking me? he said NO. He got stuck and went for help. His manager came over , took one look at the screen and said "you must have a good credit score, XXX must like you thay have given you 2 contracts" - I was livid, I said I thought you were not doing a credit check and the sleazy sale guy just said Oh, I had too!
I made my excuses and left, promising to return later. I asked for the notes but he told me I didn't need it everything is on the comouter. So now I don't have enything to send to Gap. I am waiting for them to get back to me and have made a complaint against the sleaze.
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest!
I think you should do more than just complain to Gap. I think you should ask around on here, on one of the 'pure money' boards (sorry, don't know which one without leaving this page) and ask how to complain about a company which has done a credit check on you without your authorisation - in fact, AGAINST your specific request. If you have too many credit checks it can affect your credit rating, which is why MS companies normally pay decent money if an assignment involves having one done. There is virtually no hope of getting any extra fee out of Gap - although their staff are nice, they are the worst paying company going!... and it isn't actually their fault if one of their clients' staff behave so appallingly. (I am not suggesting that you were expecting anything from Gap, btw, I'm just thinking things through as I write - and expressing some of my own frustrations with MS, I guess)

hiya,
i am new to this site, just registered with retail eyes and grass roots, how legit are they?
any advice would be greatly appreciated!
ta muchly!
Both very reputable companies: you should not have any problems.
One warning - nearly all MS companies pay you AGES after you have done the work, so don't panic if you don't get paid for a while!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

If they employ you on a self employed basis, you need to register with the Inland Revenue for tax and NI, and complete a tax return each year. See here for more info: https://www.hmrc.gov.ukHere I go again on my own....0 -
Could someome please pm the answer to me as no one has yet?
There never seem to be any available when I go on, but I've heard mainly of clothing shops, anything from female, dotty type ones to top of the range ones with the red & white logo - where the bottom button hole is coloured... if you get my drift!
I've been checking for about the last 3 weeks and there's been nothing on there for any store, for any part of the country!0 -

I never thought of getting anything extra, I'm just concerned that I haven't got any supporting documentation so I can upload a receipt. I have expressed the assignment as normal and put all the information regarding the sleaze in the comments box. Fingers crossed that they pay me! I did email them to ask how to proceed but I have yet to have a reply (I am finding it take then 2 days to reply to any email - they should have a phone number it would make it so much easier!)
My Gap assignments seem to be going wrong atm. I completed an assignment on the wrong day (but gap let me express it still - then I had problems expressing, but they are still going to pay me) - I got stuck in traffic because of an accident and just missed the time frame for one assignment and now this
I'm begginnin g to wonder if its all worth it

Don't worry about not having the supporting documentation - I have done more regular, less problematic visits to this company where they have not given me any docs. Seems to me the main reason Gap wants docs (apart from checking whether the sleaze staff are behaving as they are supposed to) is to check you've been to the store. If you have a real story about how you've been treated, as you have, it's like gold dust to the client and they should pay you VERY happily.Ex board guide. Thankyou jobbingmusician! I'll just wait to hear from Gap and stay away from that branch - Can I tell where it is so you can avoid?0

Is it in the town you are from? Can't believe he did that when you expressly asked him not to, its so out of order. I'd be complaining directly to the head office of the store as well as the other suggestions made on here. Good luck, let us know if you hear anything:beer:0
