Finally work is over for this week :)

I am OK slowlyfading. How are you?

andipandi, Sorry to hear that you had a bad night. Will you have chance to get a few hours sleep during the day perhaps?

Hey ya Katie, How are you today? Are you going out with your parents or just round to their house? Any plans for this evening?

It's weekends (especially bank holiday weekends) when I really wish I had friends instead of just being on my own.

I hope everyone else is OK today.

    Hi sf!:hello:
How are you angel? Hope you're well.;)
I know it's a few pages back, (Tiffy catching up as I was going to do yesterday:rolleyes: :o ), but your post raised a couple of thoughts to me hun.

    quote=slowlyfading
...Don't know whether I should talk about the dream - other people might find it triggering?
That was a terrible dream sf and I can understand why you were so upset by it. I appreciate the fact that you thought about how others might react to the details of your dream angel. :T
In situations like this, imho, it's best to describe it in more vague details if you can. You're a thoughtful soul hun;), and if you're in any doubt about graphic details, it's always better to err on the side of caution - as you said, we never know what other people may be going through atm.;)
This is nothing more than a Tiffy thought sweetie.

Basically, I'm trying to stop self harming, after over 7 years of doing so, but its proving much harder than I first thought.
Well done hun!:T It must be an awful struggle - what kind of input are you getting sf?
I feel that when you sh, you're feeding the problem in a way (imho), because although you get the short term relief from your pain, sh leaves you with permanent physical reminders of it and that might make you very low again and so on. I'm no expert in any way hun but I hope you're seeking support with this issue. You deserve better.;)

I'm so fed up of it to be honest. Why can't I just be... normal? Why did I have to find a way of coping which is so upsetting for anyone else and damaging to myself? I'm such a freak :( Pair that with an eating disorder than no one knows about, I'm getting the end of the line really. All this hiding really is draining after a while.
    sorry for the rant :o
    sf x/quote
Hun, you never know what's going on behind the front doors of so-called normal people.:o ;)
It's sad to admit it but we didn't choose this way of life, whatever our illnesses may be. But we're here angel and the main point is that we're fighting back.

As with any kind of battle, you get fatigued, weak and disheartened. Try and remember it's one battle and not the whole war, that you may feel like you're losing.

I think we all speak to ourselves the way you describe sf. It's a bad habit, no matter what the reasons are for having it. It's part of being depressed. Depression doesn't want us to feel good about ourselves.
Negative self-talk is very damaging - that voice inside that tells you all those nasty opinions about yourself, predicting failure etc. If you can try to conquer those self-destructive words hun, it'll be a very useful tool.

When you say those bad things to yourself angel, mentally stop it, tell yourself that you're going through a temporary blip with your illness and that's why you feel like this - tell yourself that what you're thinking is not an accurate picture of the truth and that you will feel better again. It's not easy to do, but like everything else, once done often enough, it becomes second nature and you can stop being your own worst enemy.

Your eating disorder needs to stop being a secret angel. :o It's time for you to come out of hiding with this. hug.gif
Please go and tell your gp sf. Every battle needs reinforcements hun.;) You deserve all the help you can get. It's so hard to admit that we need help, but it's the bravest - and the kindest - thing we can do.:T
No apologies needed hun!;) Though I am sorry for the length of this guys. ;)
Feel free to rant away hun and then go and get the extra support you deserve.:T I hope part of this made sense anyway. :D Take care angel.hug.gif
    Much Love,

Hey folks, Just rang the CBT folks and I have my first appointment with them on 4th of June, What should i expect from this?

    Hi lrs!:hello:
How are you doing hun? I hope all is well with you. Good luck with your cbt on 4th June angel. :T
It's really made a difference to a lot of people. It's not easy by any means hun and it requires you to constantly practice what you're taught, in order to be most effective.

What is it? Imho, it challenges you're way of seeing things and your thinking - shows you that you can see things from different angles. Then you put into practice what you've learned to your own situation.

You should do it all in baby steps so that it becomes a habit before you move on to each new step. It's not a race and each of us goes at our own speed. This is a very simplistic explanation lrs and cbt brings many benefits to different people in different ways, although as with any treatments, there's no guarantee.

If I were you angel, I would go along and not expect anything at all. If you go with pre-conceived opinions either one way or the other, you've given yourself more to deal with.

It's usually done on a one-to-one basis and becomes tailored to your needs - basically it challenges your thinking by using logic, amongst other things.
Go with an open mind and let your therapist guide you through the process angel. You may be offered other help options too lrs and Tiff's advice to anyone, is to try anything you're offered - you've got nothing to lose!;)
Hope this helped a little angel.hug.gif

Went to the local authorities hearing today and my son got in to the school he wants to go to!!!!! No need to go again tomorrow. It's all over.

Thanks for ALL your support - each and every one of you.

As you can tell, I am over the moon. Can't wait to tell him.

Best go and do some work now

    Hi karrie!:hello:
This is fantastic news - I'm really happy for both of you hun!:T :A I knew you could do it.;) I love it when a plan comes together and the good guys win!:T :j

It may be a good idea to speak to the student counsellor at the new school angel as I've said before, and let them know what's going on so that they can keep an eye on DS's progress.

Also, if the bullying continues around your home, call the police. They take it very seriously now. When they're not doing it to your son, they're probably making some other poor soul's life hell. Your local community police officer would be a good start angel.;)

I hope he goes from strength to strength karrie and if I can be of any other help, give me a shout.;) Here's to a better future for both of you. Thinking of you sweetie.hug.gif

    Hi everyone!
May I offer a suggestion to you all?
May I suggest you meet up this summer and have great days out together?

My suggestions (for what they're worth!) for those of us in the south-east:
[1] Brighton [I have groovy trousers]
[2] Kew Gardens [ free entry day/music fest.]

    Over to the thread regulars....

    Special note to Razorbladekisses:
I am sorry to hear you have been ill recently. Please forgive me for being miles behind as usual - I have just noted from your posts that you live in Guildford! Top town + very close to me, in fact I'm often there. Give us a shout if you fancy a cuppa etc.

A chilled and happy May Bank holiday to you all!
    CB2x

    Hi cb2!:hello:
Amen to that last part hun!:T
How are you angel? You're a real sweetheart hun - I love reading your positive and helpful suggestions.:A I'm hoping all is well with you and yours cb2?

I think it's a nice idea to meet up if you feel well enough to do so. We share heart and soul here and I'm sure it'd be a boost to a lot of people.
Trouble is, there aren't that many outings for us agrophobics!  :D

As you may know, Tiff will be touring ''Up North'' :D, from 20th June until 4th July (if they can get me in the car!!! :D;) ), and staying in Harrogate for 2 weeks.

I've already set myself the goal of trying to see if I can make a trip into York. peep.gif

Perhaps I'd better concentrate on getting out from the hotel and round Harrogate first!yield.gif;)

Or even getting into the car to get there!panic.gif:rotfl:

Look after yourself angel.hug.gif Thinking of you.hug.gif

I'm okay this morning thanks :) Got a busy day planned (when dont i? ) and my friend offered to cook me sunday dinner so I'm off to hers later. :)

I will give vague details next time, sorry. :o you're right though, I dont want to harm others by talking about such images.

Well done hun!:T It must be an awful struggle - what kind of input are you getting sf?
Not sure what you mean by input, I'm not seeing a counsellor or anything - I dont want to be a pain and cause a fuss, and to be honest, I dont have time right now with exams and whatnot.

What you say there is exactly right - it is a short term thing, which leaves nasty reminders of that moment in time.

    Much Love,

    Tiff xxx

I think you are one of the nicest people. I understand that its part of my illness talking, though I have never been to see a doctor about depression, or anything really related. I went when I was 16 (I'm 20) about SH and she was very helpful, but I just feel a fraud. About the eating disorder, I can't tell anyone because its not very serious. I'm not thin, I'm fat and I'd just feel.... stupid? I'm getting help from online sites about that, but if it continues for much longer I'll go and see someone.
Thank you so much for your kind words.

    Hi folkes,

Got back from brum last night.
Went to an all-you-can-stuff chinese on Friday.
Felt ill yesterday (and little nephew was sick in the night).
Today my tonsils feel like golf balls.
Went to H&S expo and got contacts with 3 new recruitment agencies. I really need to get a CV together by Tuesday.

My sleep was disturbed up there. A lot on my mind. Job hunting, wages will be low when I find one - and me just wanting to get on with it ....which you can't when I'm up at mom's.

Big hugs to SF and ANYBODY else who'd like one.
