Oh is the hol 2mora Tiff? Have a great time xx

I've gone mad and bought a new TV. I'm going to Southampton to fetch it in the morning and will spend some time at the coast. I hope this lightning has gone for a while.

what happened with the maintanace man ethel?

Things like.. he taking 4 hours to do a 30 minute job, being rude and unco-operative with his administrator, lying on his timesheets, stuff like that. It's a great shame cos I always got on really well with him until recently... he thinks I'm his enemy now that I'm management and I'm not.

So now he didn't turn up for this verbal warning and last week he walked off in a huff and the rest of the committee are talking about gross misconduct and breach of contract n stuff. So I dunno what's gonna happen. I want to distance myself from the situation but I can't because I'm his staff liaison officer, but it's hard cos we were friends before but now he won't talk to me :(

    Hi All,

RBK - I've only just caught up on today's posts - you ARE NOT a waste of space. Your post to me made me feel valued and understood. Even for that alone (apart from all the great advice you've offered everyone else) you are a very special person, who deserves to receive the same amount of love and care that you give to others. :A (I know I'm new here, but I have to tell you how I feel, hope you don't mind).

I had a much better day today! I had a chat with the class teacher who's my mentor for my PGCE & told her I'm having a 'crisis of confidence' and feel sick the night before I have to go into school. She was so understanding and said I remind her of herself when she was training (she also did PGCE as a mature student). She also said I'm being too hard on myself, and that if I carry on the way I've started my placement, I'll do just fine, and be a great teacher!

I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound big-headed, but that just gave me such a boost. I was so worried that I wasn't good enough, and that I'd wreck the educations of all the kids I'd be teaching. But (for today at least) she's made me feel much better, and a little more confident that I'm heading in the right direction.

She also said that she's there if I need to talk about anything at all, and that she won't expect me to teach the kids unsupervised until I feel I'm ready. So, hopefully, I won't feel so sick tomorrow night (Thursday's my next day in school).

Part of my worries have also been that I'm worried about how much / how often I've been drinking. Trouble is, when you apply for teacher training / teaching jobs, you have to say if you've been treated for alcohol-related problems, which is stopping me from talking to my GP / counsellor about it.

Even though I've cut down from 1-2 bottles of wine a night to 1 -2 cans of cider a night, I'm still worried that I can't seem to stop drinking. If I try, I get really bad-tempered. It's not nearly as bad as trying to stop smoking, but the feelings are similar. (why shouldn't I have just one? why should I deprive myself if I enjoy it?, etc).

Wow! That was a switch of mood in one post. :o Think I should get some sleep now. Maybe my mood will switch back by morning.

    xx

:hello: Miroslav, HAPPY BIRTHDAY for later this week. Any plans? Whatever you do I hope that you have a good day.

AFAIK feelinggood isn't coming back to MSE :( I haven't heard from her in ages.

We've got lots of new posters :)

CCStar no longer posts on this thread which is a shame. However, I think she makes the odd post on other parts of the forum.

Let_Robinson_Sing, I am sorry to hear that you don't think yesterday's exams went that well. You tried your best, that's all anyone can ask of you. WELL DONE. YAY :j glad to hear that today's exams wen well :T Not long left now...

happysinglemum, You've probably done the right thing by gradually reducing the amount you drink rather than just going cold turkey. That would have been really difficult. You're sounding really positive about it all so that's a great start :T

I find this thread a great help. Everyone is so supportive. It's also a great feeling helping others, even if it is just to give them a hug or something.

Wow I'm sure looking after your son and studying is enough to keep you occupied. How are you finding the course? Make sure you grab the odd 5 mins to yourself just to relax and have some 'me time'.

ilovegreatdanes, Of course we don't think bad of you hun. If you are ill then of course it isn't possible for you to work. It's understandable that you are worrying about the medical on Friday but please don't worry to the extent that it makes you ill. (((HUGS))) (easier said than done, I know).

westclok, Unfortunately when we are depressed we do tend to push those closest to us away. I'm not sure why, it just seems to happen.

The Doctor sounds like he was fairly helpful. Hopefully the Diazepam will relax you a little and make you less anxious. Hopefully the counsellor will call you back soon.

I don't think you're obliged to divulge the fact that you are suffering from anxiety/depression. It's probably best that they don't know actually. The job might be good for you though. It will act as a distraction and give you some kind of purpose. Surely it would be OK to accept it, give it a go and if you really find yourself struggling then leave. Have a think about it before you rush into anything.

rose07, (((HUGS))) How did the interview go?

Get back to that GP of yours :D I'll go if you do :D

roversbabe, Welcome to the depression thread. I hope you find lots of support here. Everyone is very friendly and willing to listen.

The side effects of the anti-depressants are probably quite normal. In the first few weeks of starting medication most people experience a few side-effects. However, you could mention it to your GP when you see him tomorrow. After a few weeks of taking the medication you should hopefully see some kind of improvement.

I hope that your appointment with the GP goes well.

Gillette, Thank you for your supportive post. It means a lot to know that there are people that do care. I know I need to go back to my GP. I feel quite unsafe atm and when I'm like this I seem to lose all sense of control hence the increase in SH and OD.

*sandymogs*, I appreciate the support, thank you. It's so very hard to stop self-harming it really is. You would think that the horrible cuts/scars it leaves would be enough to stop someone from doing it but the weird thing i it really does help. Thank you again though.

slowlyfading, My wrist is very sore atm but yeah you know what it's like... Thank you for your kind post. How are you feeling hun?

dmg24, What's wrong? Feel free to talk to us about it if you want to.

Ethel, :( They really are messing your daughter and you about. You never seem to know where you are with them.

The bandaging sounds painful. I hope it does some good.

    DO IT DO IT! :j You'd make a good JP/magistrate :)

 I hope everyone involved in the above mentioned incidents were unharmed. Very scary!

Tulip, Hope you are well hun. Things sound like they are on the up for you :) Look after yourself.

Gemma84, Welcome to the depression thread. If you don't mind me asking what anti-depressants are you currently taking? A lot of the more modern SSRI's are not supposed to be addictive. However, if you have been taking them for some time then you might experience some mild withdrawal effects when you decide to come off them. This might be something that you could speak with your GP about. I'm sure he/she will be able to help you come off your anti-depressants when the time is right and safely of course :)

Tiff, Well it's nearly time for you to go off on your travels :) We will all miss you lots while you are away.

Now Tiff, I know you are probably very nervous/anxious about the whole thing but I know you can do it! You're such a strong person. You make sure you relax and have some fun! We want to hear all about it when you get back so you'd best have some good stories for us :D

Enjoy yourself! Take care and look after yourself. Miss you already xxx

happysinglemum, :hello: again Thank you for your supportive post. I'm glad my post to you had a positve effect :) Thank you for caring.

What great feedback to have received from your mentor :T that must have boosted your confidence? She sounds like a good source of support for you. Make sure you use her :)

Will your GP help you with your drinking? It sounds like you really want to reduce your alcohol intake but just need that extra bit of help.

Well I'm completely exhausted. Feeling quite ill now actually. Been sick and suffering from diarrhea. It's all obviously related to the OD. However, I've never experienved diarrhea with previous OD's  I'm going to head off to bed now.

Good night everyone. Hope you all sleep well. xxx

    Hi everyone :hello:

I haven't posted here for a while, coz I've been really down and when I get like that I don't think anyone likes me or wants me anyway. And I had a long talk with a friend today and told him how much of a fialure I think I am, and he says I'm not evil like I think. But then he's lovely and always says nice things.
