Im in the middle of writing a letter to a debt collector denying that i have any debt, they have sent me numerous threatening letters and I've had a few calls both on my mobile and at home, I'm stating that now I've denied debt further calls asking for payment is harassment and will be reported.
Whats the law on this? am i correct? many thanks

You don't say what this is for, I realise its probably parking but a rule of thumb when dealing with debt collectors. They are lying barrel scraping scumbags who should be ignored completely unless there is a legitimate debt. Then you should only deal with them in writing and only to tell them not to call. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

this is for a parking ticket issued unfairly by a private company, I am dealing with Roxburghe, they seem to be well known and highly thought of around the MSE forums...0

Which parking company was it then.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Please ignore Roxburghe and Graham White when they write to you next, by appealing to them and entering dialogue it only encourages them to continue harassing you. They can be ignored!
And why even write to them ? They cannot cancel the ticket, they are 'debt collectors' meaning they collect on behalf of someone else, which means they have no means to cancel a fake ticket. The appeals procedure they have is just pretend to hook mugs in.
Which scamming parking company gave you the fake ticket ?When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

PCN NW issued the ticket, I have no problems with what they threaten, but I do not like them ringing the house phone leaving messages as this is not my house, and if possible i'd like to stop the contact from them as quickly as possible, no point dragging this out.0

So how have they got your home number and your mobile number,
If it was a private company, why have you not taken the advice on here about ignoring.
Something is just not quite adding up here.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The only contact I have had with them so far is when they have rang me on unknown numbers and I have answered and told them nothing but my name0

Well stop writing to them then! Calls can be ignored they will soon get bored of it when they see no bites. You should never ever speak to a debt collector ever on the phone. You can send them an email demanding that they stop calling. See post #2 in this thread
