Have a look at this link http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/start/who-qualifies/workingtaxcredit/disability.htm . You would need to be working at least 16 hours a week as well as having a disability.0

I get Disabled Person's Working Tax Credit which is the name of the benefit being referred to, I think.
I'm in receipt of higher rate mobility disability living allowance, (which will eventually be Personal Independence Payment for the fortunate few that will get it) and work from home for c. 23 hours a week. If I understand correctly, disabled person's working tax credits are only paid to those eligible for the higher rate of disability living care/mobility allowances (but do check this as I may be wrong.)Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I BELIEVE it's any DLA award.0 -
It is any rate of DLA for the disability element of working tax credits, higher rate care component of DLA for the severe disability element.
You need to be working for the disability element and your partner needs to be working for the severe disability element (or you need to be).

Of course when UC comes in the rules are going to change drastically.
However, I suspect there's going to be so many problems with UC who knows when it'll be fully ready.0 -
Thanks for that, I'm pleased I was wrong. It's certainly worth applying for - and also don't forget to let DWP know if your circumstances change, if you earn too much to claim it at first, as happened to me . Mine did change, when my income dipped last year.
Initially I was told I would have to wait until April to re-apply for DPWTC, which was rubbish, luckily I realised this and got the money I was entitled to, after calling again and speaking to someone who knew what they were talking about.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again...
