Hi Kate!
I too wanted to say congratulations on such a great journey!
I too am trying to pay down the mortgage which is more difficult since becoming unemployed and i have recently just had a spinal operation! eek!
Still, have you looked at ClearanceXL.com ? They are amazingly cheap for food if you can buy in bulk and have space to store!
£2 Savers Club #156!
Looking for holiday ideas for 2016. Currently, Isle of Skye in March, Riga in May, Crete in June and Lake District in October. August cruise cancelled, but Baby due September 2016! :j0 -
Thanks everyone for reading....I'm always surprised that people are reading my waffle!
Pay day today...........seems to have taken a century to arrive this month. Anyway, debt is paid and due to receiving an additional child benefit payment this month (as they're 4 weekly) I've managed to put some extra into my savings a/c. That means I now have £1185 in my ISA so at this rate won't be long until I hit 3k!.
Got a 2 day conference to do with work tomorrow - thankfully my parents have taken time off work and will look after the children. Loads of my colleagues are moaning about having to do the annual conference but for me its 2 nights in a hotel with lovely food and wine and a leisurely breakfast with no school run, making sandwiches, checking book bags etc
When I get back I'm going to sit and do a proper budget for the month.0 -
I hope your conference goes well, enjoy the break and continental breakfast (yum!)

Enjoy your mini-break
. Don't suppose it's at the seaside is it, or would that be too much to ask :rotfl:. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Oh, and P.S. enjoy your trip away. I know what you mean about business trips - aslong as it's not for too long it keeps a job quite exciting.0

Lovely time away thanks...hotel was nice and my fab colleague who happened to be given a suite (by pure luck) offered to swop with me as 'it would be wasted on a bloke'. Now, I'm an ardent feminist and usually scoff at such sexism but managed to quash any such mutterings in the interests of having a lounge AND a bedroom AND a huge ensuite with roll top bath. Got lots of lovely shower gels and stuff to bring home too and the crisp £10 note I had in my wallet has remained intact as there was no shortage of food or wine! Just a shame 'workshops', 'team briefs' and 'corporate strategy' got in the way

At some point tomorrow I'm going to do my budget for the month and see what the lay of the land is. The work on my guttering and fascias has been done so will need to pay for that. Plus there's a deluge of school trip letters suddenly appeared requesting 'voluntary' payments. And the dreaded MOT is in June so think I'll set a bit aside from this salary and a bit from next months just in case there's any nasty surprises lurking under the bonnet. Hopefully there'll be something left after all this to add to my ISA.0
