Exceptionally noisy neighbours.....crows!

I live in a rural village and it is customary for the crows to be shot.
If the Parish and District Council are approached for help it is refused. Many Councils don't finance vermin control any more due to financial constraints.0 -

You are right regarding the latter.
But here is the thing which I don't get...and it applies to many other issues in this country, actually...
It is invariably one extreme ( shoot them) or the other ( shrug of the shoulder and total inertia and apathy).
Nobody I have ever met working for the council has EVER tried to find a sucessful solution which deviates from the above and which would necessitate applying a modicum of problem solving skills.
Yet, finding solutions for peoples environmental problems IS their job...otherwise WHAT are we paying taxes to fund the environmental health officers for?
Noise pollution is noise pollution. Whether the source is a group of teenagers who party with zest, or a neighbours dog barking at the top of his lungs, or somebody drilling from dawn to dusk....or crows screeching all day long. ALL interfere with a person's statutory right to "peaceful enjoyment of their home".
Nobody would go and say " teens/dog/drilling too loud?why, lets be done with it and shoot them!". Hence, I refuse to believe that a non violent solution can't be found IF the council gave a damn.0 -
Have you a local pest controller who you could speak to. You know the type who is asked to come in to rid you of moles, wasps and the like.
He/she may have some ideas you haven't thought of or know how to get rid.
I think your main problem is getting your neighbour on board as it is his garden and you cant trespass. That will be the tricky part.0 -

I'm watching this thread with interest - I have a similar problem but with sparrows. Noisy little blighters....
Anyone had any success with one of those 'kite' scarers?Penny: I'm a little low on cash.
Leonard: How much you got?
Penny: Nothing!
Leonard: How can you walk around with no money?
Penny: I'm cute, I get by.0 -

Hose sparrows have suffered a significant decline in numbers and range over the last 25 years to the extent that they are on the RSPB Red List.
You should feel honoured that they've chosen to live near you0 -
Tempting.....but not legal
Hey, much as I want to escape from their incessant noise - landing myself in jail isn't quite what I had in mind.
And as weird as it may sound - I don't wish them any harm...I just want them to become so uncomfortable that they pack up and leave.
You'd find, I think, that jails are pretty noisy places, too.
Hope you get it sorted....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Could you get a cat?! (Not to catch them (hopefully), but it'd scare them off.)
Jx
Sounds a bit like the start of a saga like the Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly........much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

But I'd happily round them all up and transfer them to a loving new home. Now if you could PM me your address...;)Penny: I'm a little low on cash.

In the field next to us the farmer uses what looks like a bird of prey.
When we first saw it we thought it was real.
It is on a wire and flutters up and down, it certainly seems to work as all the birds end up over with us!!0
