All joking aside, so long as you're careful you dont hit any humans, this might be your best idea.

My mothers house is in a rural village, and has a big garden that used to get repeatedly eaten by rabbits.

After a year of this and nothing else working, I shot about 30 over a few nights with my rifle and then about 10 over the next week. After that the numbers in the garden consistently fell.

Animals are instinctive creatures, they wont go somewhere they know they have a good chance of being killed.

it is illegal to shoot and let the pellets leave the boundries of your own property !! however if you can get permission from the person who's tree the garden is in to shoot them from their property without letting the pellets leave the boundry you'll be within the law, corvids are very intelligent birds and if you shoot one of them the mere sight of a person pointing anything resembling a gun barrel at them will send them scarpering

    Tempting.....but not legal :)

Hey, much as I want to escape from their incessant noise - landing myself in jail isn't quite what I had in mind.

And as weird as it may sound - I don't wish them any harm...I just want them to become so uncomfortable that they pack up and leave.

If there's more than one pair, its unlikely they are crows, more likely to be rooks. Nesting in chimneys will be ravens
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I am so glad to hear this and hope you find some way of reducing their noise without resorting to killing them all.
I find it disgusting how many people think it is ok to kill living creatures just because they annoy us human beings. :(

Do you have a bird of prey centre near you? Maybe you can invite thme to bring down any Harris Hawks they have for some 'training'...

    or a super soaker.

    I will look into both!

As to the super soaker....interestingly, in mainland Europe, if crows/ seagulls/etc become a noise or fouling nuisance in residential areas, local authorities often employ the fire brigade who will hose the nests down. From what I understand, if repeated periodically, the crows take this as a hint to leave.....

I suggested this to the council and heard " nope, no can do". Why not....well, that they couldn't say. But they COULD tell me that my suggestion to therefore direct our 2K + council charge to the crows...in view that they seemed more interested in protecting the crows right to "peaceful enjoyment of THEIR chosen home" than mine....wasn't gonna fly.

    Interesting suggestion.

Once the young have flown the nests I will look into it - thanks!

However, I am not sure that a one time visit from some hawk would accomplish much. If anything I would have to entice them to pay daily/weekly visits.

In fact just killing one or two of them will be enough, they are very clever birds and will move on if they don’t feel safe.

One of the reasons we have a problem with crows and other such birds is because we removed almost all of their predators (owls).

Also as rooks kill and eat song bird eggs and chicks (which are under rapid decline in the UK) you would be helping to retain the diversity of birds we take for granted.

I would rather get rid of a rook colony (by whatever means) in my garden and feed robin’s or the other small song bird’s

As stated a decent .22 air rifle will sort it.
