The Asda filling station is next to the Asda store, that is true but you don't have to 'go in the shop' if you only want fuel. It's just a filling station like any other.

BTW I have no idea what an Android app is.

Indeed, that's exactly what I do at Asda.

And an android app is a program for smartphones that run the Android operating system.

I basically have all my "loyalty" cards on it, pick which shop I'm at from a list and then wave the phone under the barcode scanner, rather than actually carry any cards.

  • Thanks for the responses everyone. Very helpful.

Like some of you said, as it's my local station that I use anyway, there's nothing to lose by doing it. I won't expect a windfall any time soon

I'd suspect any BP rewards scheme would be dwarfed by the fact that BP are (at least around here) always the most expensive by quite some margin.

Unless you're claiming back actual fuel receipts, like I was, of course.

This. I have no idea why BP are so pricey. Near me they are 2p a litre more expensive than the Shell garage on the other side of the roundabout.

Still fill up at Esso though. Another 2p a litre cheaper so much better on the pocket than trying to get to Shell.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Why not just look at their website? :)

All info on there - https://www.shellsmart.com/smart/about/Collect.html?site=en-en

Of course - but they aren't going to mention any catches or downsides on their own site, which is why I asked on here.

  • It used to be a good scheme even for a lowish mileage private motorist. Now as a company car driver doing at least 2K miles a month I still dont see anywhere near as many rewards as in the early years.
