Shell Driver's Club

Hi all,

Is anyone a member of the Shell Driver's Club? It's their reward scheme for fuel. I have a card since my local garage is a Shell and I buy their fuel anyway, but has anyone had actually had a good return from this? Or is it one of those where you need to buy 5000 litres to get a Twix?

Thanks in advance, sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere.

    fuel per ltr = 1 point V - power = 2 points autogas = 1 point oil £1 = 1 point jey wash =15 points Shell super shine car wash = 25 points
& so on -- my last points = 860 a £4.00 fuel voucher = 800 points so got 60 still on my card ( it was all on a works van so cost was nil )
TO ENTER CODE - press station preset button 1 repeatedly for 1st diget of your keycode - repeat the same on - 2 for 2nd - 3 for 3rd - 4 for 4th - & if the display then shows the correct keycode number press preset button 5 to enter - photo shows radio extractor keys & serial number on the radio casing - go to u-tube & see remove ford radio

I have all my points converted to airmiles (now avios) and have done this from day one of having the card so a tidy number of miles have been gathering towards my eventual trip to Hawaii :)

I joined up a few years ago when there was a good Shell garage on my route to work that was reliably the cheapest non-supermarket one around. I didn't make a lot but the cash back vouchers counteracted the higher pump price.

They used to regularly send out bonus vouchers if you filled up twice in a month and I used to plan fills to maximise these (or fill my wifes car for her). However, in the last couple of years they have got stingier and stingier with these so it is no longer covering the higher pump price.

Then for some reason they asked me if I'd rather have avios (nope - not into long haul holidays) or Waitrose vouchers (rarely shop there) so I've stopped bothering to look for Shell if Esso is cheaper.
I need to think of something new here...

It's like the Morrisons Miles card where you got to use half the north sea oil reserves before you get the £5 voucher.

I've found it OK to be honest. Was brilliant when back in the day I had the Shell Credit Card too which paid 5% then 3% cashback!

I'm actually in the V-Power Club. I've never used V-Power diesel, but local garage had 2 diesel nossels per pump- one always registered as V-Power on your drivers club card :money:

It used to be pretty good, not so much these days.

Back when I was driving 60,000 miles a year on business, in a gas guzzling Subaru that required V-Power, for a company that only paid cost of fuel, I'd regularly see £100 worth of vouchers in my quarterly rewards thing, which I could turn into cash by just claiming for fuel purchases in the normal way.

Over the years it dropped to about £10 or £20 worth, then I quit that job and now I'm lucky if I see a fiver.

If you fill up at Shell anyway, it's worth it, otherwise don't bother.

I used to drive 3/4 differnet cars a day for a living and spend anywhere from £10 per trip to £100 trip. I could easily go through a grand a month in fuel.

Having used them all I found that Texaco was the best value for rewards but there aren't that many (if any) on M-Way service stations.

If I was on the motorway then I'd use BP/Nectar sites where possible.

Used to get a few quid, but then again I used to regularly run transits between from Wolverhampton and Glasgow and back again.

I'd suspect any BP rewards scheme would be dwarfed by the fact that BP are (at least around here) always the most expensive by quite some margin.

Unless you're claiming back actual fuel receipts, like I was, of course.

I hate all rewards schemes. Hate having to remember to use another card everytime. Hate wasting time dealing with it and all the faff when paying/ cashing in vouchers and the fact that if you want points on your card, you cannot use Pay at Pump! It is a pleasure to fill up at Asda where there are no offers/vouchers but simply cheap petrol.

It would be much more efficient and increase the quality of life if companies scrapped their loyalty schemes and just gave everyone a cheaper price in the first place.

Oh forgot to mention; I had a Shell card and received nothing for ages. Took several goes at emailing them to sort it out as my card wasn't registered correctly or something like that. I have had the odd £4 off voucher for buying an oilfield-worth of petrol but nothing earth-shatteringly good.

Ahh, but the reward schemes are used to collect marketing data that they can sell, that's why it doesn't happen.

Isn't Asda's pricing basically a loss-leader to get you to visit their shop?

As for the reward cards, for many of then an Android app called Stocard can help. You put in your card numbers and then it just displays a barcode that you can scan instead of actually carrying the card.
