  • Personally, I would be more worried about the case going missing than leaving it unlocked if it had stuff in I was really anxious about. That has happened to me three times too!

What if i lock the combination and put the number on the name tag?
  • Isn't that a bit like writing your burglar alarm number on your front door?

Is there really no way you could use cable ties, what about the zip pullers, isnt there 2 of those with a hole in. Does that make sense

You can buy luggage straps with TSA-approved combination locks. Might be worth doing that. I always use luggage straps anyway as I've had the zips on several cases damaged over the years - at least with a strap there's a chance your contents will stay inside the case.

What MurphytheCat said. If you lock them, and they are not TSA approved, they will break them open.

Can you put an external lock on, you can buy TSA approved ones, and just leave the combination ones open.

It really is pot luck. I travel back and forth to the US about 5-6 times a year and have had my bags checked on the last 4 trips in a row.

Op said they cant put cable ties on, if that is the case then a padlock wouldnt fit either

There are no zips on the cases, the luggage straps sound the job, will go looking for some tomorrow.
  • Grab a packsafe lock from the link below. They're really good. You just keep the keys in your wallet, so really hard to lose. You can just put the lock through the hole at the end of the zip handle thingies.
