national debtline are coming back to me to arrange a face to facxe appointment. they suggest i could go BR and it would cost £640. if this cleared this mess i would do it. one draw back however they say is you may lose your bank account. this would be a disaster as my wage goes into it and ive 5 or 6 direct debits coming out. hopefully they can advise me better at the meeting. OR
if house goews to court as i got a letter from santander over the weekend saying litagation process will be starting. will the courts make me bankrupt and avoid the fee....... No they won't.
OR act now before it all goes to court. hand keys bank and pay the fee.........
You can wait untill the house has been repo'd or start the process now, it's up to you.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
what i mean is if the house is repo do the court order the BR ?
rather than me jumping in now to fork out £640 i dont have....
also im told you lose your bank account.......is this true0 -
No they won't order a BR as you have no assets, you will have to do it.
Yes, most banks will close your account. Open a BR friendly one who won't. See the Bank Account sticky at the top of the board for help with that.

Does your partner have a bank account as if so you could have your wages paid into her account and the DDs paid out of her account until you open another one. I am with the Co-Op and I also believe Barclays are BR friendly unless you owe either of these two money. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0

thanks yes she does . that may be an option as long as they dont mind its not in my name.. not a joint account in other words. dont think it should matter for wages. and except for the house the only other is mobile phone sky and car insurance really . i guess could all be swoped meantime... cheers guys0 -

When I was in this situation I was told to move my money out fast and get my wages changed immediately, I did not have time to open another account, my elderly mum lives with me and I gave my company her bank details and they were fine with that, even though it was only for the one month, they did not moan or mind.
Your direct debits may be an issue but they should not be, as I pay one of my mothers the contract is in her name out of my bank account and I simply changed it online.
Hope that helps. I know this is all a pain but it takes time and you will get there. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0 -
maybe then i should start moving dd,s and wages now into her account and hope i can trust this one as it was ex wife who helped get me here...
anything in my name or my account will be seized then i assume once you are declared BR.?
will they ask for talk sake if i start liftin lump sums out each week i.e £300 or so
and what do i do after BR.
CAN I AGAIN OPEN AN ACCOUNT. IVE LOOKED AT STICKYS ON HERE AND AM CONFUSED. some say yes with co op and others say no cant anymore.........dont know if my debtors are part of any of the banks you can go to.........ive mbna mint which i believe is rbs and santander?0 -
You can open one of the accounts recommended on the sticky and transfer all your wages, money and DD's over to it. You can use it as normal for all your normal outgoings. No need to go sneaking around.
The Co-op will now not open an account if you are already BR but will before you go BR. Don't tell them you are opening it because you are going BR and try and operate it normally for a little while before going BR.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Sorry Tiger I was not meaning him to go sneaking around, and I confuddled the issue here, when I went into the IVA I had no time to open an account so they told me to use my mums which is what I did.
Before I went BR I did have time and opened an account with the Co Op and I am sure I told the Co Op why I was opening it back then but they have changed the goal posts now it would seem. It seems so silly to not entertain people who have gone bankrupt, I can understand for people who go BR more than once, but we are not criminals, they just make us feel that way, thank god the judge on the day did not make me feel that way, in fact he told me I was not a criminal and to hold my head up, in fact his words have never left me, he said "you are not alone".
