Hi, I parked in a non council run car park and purchased a ticket using the machine. Unfortunately I entered my car reg incorrectly by one number. I received a parking ticket in the post. Luckily I still had the ticket and sent them a copy together with a photo of the car & reg plate explaining my error. I assume they got my address from the CCTV and not the from the ticket via the DVLA (as that car does not exist!). They are telling me that the fine still stands and are demanding the money. Is this right? I paid for parking and did not exceed my time but made an error with the reg number.

No this is not a fine at all ! This parking company who are they ? Did they on your rejection give you or mention popla ? Is it England or Wales ? This will never get to court as basically they are punishing you for making a simple error, that punishment is an illegal penalty. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

You paid, so nothing else really matters. As this is a non-council car aprk, then you do not have any sort of fine.
The course must obvious from there?
You can "appeal" to them, then do the POPLA thing on their near-inevitable rejection. If POPLA go against you, you ignore that.0 -
How could they get an address from CCTV?
And I usually enter the registration number P155 OFF into those machines. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Many thanks for replies, much appreciated. This was England and I can only assume that they got the correct number plate details from the CCTV pictures. I had appealed and received a 'fine still stands' notice so have written again and will now leave it at that, thanks

Can you please tell us which company it is, we can tailor the advice a bit more accurately then. ThanksWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

What do you have :
Penalty Charge Notice
or
Parking charge notice.Be happy...;)0 -
The company is 'Civil Enforcement Ltd', Liverpool and it was a 'parking enforcement notice'. We have now had the appeal turned down and we have had the 'final reminder before legal action'.0

What are the dates when you received the letter, the date you replied & the date that your appeal was refused? They should have sent you a verification code so that you could take your case to the "independent" appeals body POPLA. The timescales here are critical & it would be easy get out if they have failed to provide you a route to POPLA. Their charge is quite without merit & would be laughed out of court if were ever to reach one.
I am sure that POPLA would have upheld your appeal but the fact that you have now received a "'final reminder before legal action" suggests that this all happened a while ago & either they didn't provide the POPLA code or they did but you ignored it.0 -
Ah, good advice nigelbb, don't have letters with me at moment, will check when I get home, many thanks for all our help.0

POPLA comes next, don't miss your chance if they have given you a POPLA verfication code. Let us know and we can help you with a strong appeal for POPLA - not based on 'sorry I made a mistake' but instead based on challenging the legality and status of this fake PCN.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
