My Packard bell oneTwo m d6421uk , opens up ok but few minutes later the screen goes blank. It then asks me to in press f12' which i do, then it's asking me to press up or down arrow and select boot device. In small screen it also state cd/DVDo-hl-dt-stud dram gt 309.
I have done system restore to reboot but is still the same problem, asking me to put a device to re boot my computer, the thing is i do not have any booting device. can i buy any boot disc or specific one?
Advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

When you next start the computer, press F8 instead of F12. There should be an option there; Repair your computer. Try that firstly.0

What OS are you running? What do you mean by 'opens up OK' Does it actually boot to the Windows desktop before BSOD'g?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

At the risk of sounding a bit dim, I would say it can't find the operating system.
If you have the windows disc, put that into the CD/DVD drive and tell it to repair your installation after it's booted up into various options.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
Do you have a disk in the optical drive? It sounds like your PC may be set to boot from that first instead of the hard drive containing the OS. If that's the case, try ejecting the disk and hopefully the PC will boot normally. If it does, you can set the BIOS so that it boots from the hard drive by default next time.
If that doesn't help, you can probably fix the problem by re-writing the master boot record (MBR) onto the hard drive so your system "knows" where to find Windows when it boots up: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/9273920 -

when i switch the computer on, its pefect for few minutes, its then i managed to do system restore, but few mintes later the problem starts again, and then when i re start the computer again it gives me an option of dell set up or press f12. when i press f12 it goes on to say "please select boot device: cd/dvd:po-hl-dt-dtdvdram gt30n" please select up and down to move selection, enter to select boot device, esc to boot using defaults.0 -
