NPB, but need to relist asap.

Hi,

I'm quite new to the board, but needed some advice. I listed and sold some events tickets on ebay. They ended on Sunday. The winner bidder messaged me a few hours later saying there bank account had been hacked and they couldn't pay. The tickets are time sensitive with the event being next week, I would normally open a NPB case with eBay after 4 days, but I dont have the time and need the tickets back up today really. I did a second chance offer for the next bidder but they didn't respond to it.

Whats the best way to get the transaction cancelled, without me having to pay final selling fee's? The tickets sold for a reasonable amount and I dont really want to be left with fee's to pay after yet again another non payer.

Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks

Your only option is to risk a mutual, if buyer agrees you get your FVFs back, if they decline you lose your FVFs. Either way they can leave you feedback.

Have they categorically stated that they will not pay?

For something time limited why not use a BIN with immediate payment required- just make sure you finish it well in time to get the tickets out special delivery and to UK only buyers.

  • They have sent a message basically saying they won't pay and I should relist asap. I'm just a bit worried by listing with a BIN, it nobody buys, we will be stuck with them. I can't attend the event now so they will be wasted otherwise.

I think I will have to risk a mutual.

  • Relist them, and may as well just ignore the first buyer, and their strange story.... Just open a case of unpaid item on day 4 post sale, and when they dont pay they get a strike , and you get fees back they dont get a chance to leave a potential malicious negative feedback. No need to listen to their silly stories any more don't correspond any more, it is pointless.

Meanwhile, drop the price considerably....do a one day 99p start auction OR put pick up in person only, or even try stick them on Gumtree and meet someone local with them, if the price is right someone will take them off your hands!

Both buyer and seller agree to not proceed. It means seller sends a mutual cancellation request rather than an NPB but buyer has to agree. If buyer declines then no thee case can be opened, if buyer ignores the mutual it closes automatically in sellers favour on day 7 after opening.

But why would the buyer possibly decline the mutual cancellation? They don't want the item after all?

Oh yes I do remember now, someone done that to me before, so it is known as mutual is it, only when I sent the cancellation form to someone who hadnt paid instead of agreeing , out of spite they clicked the "buyer has declined to cancel this transaction and you must proceed with the sale" option!

I got no fees back and they didnt pay for or want the item, I remember now saying I would never select "cancel the sale" as an option again to have the buyer basically lead you up the garden path and it was something worth £90 so the seller fees of £9 (ish) that I never got back. That is when I set the UPI to "auto "on the 4th day post sale ,if unpaid item sitting and payment is not forthcoming give them the 4 days more grace , and let ebay deal with them on day 8. Final fees come back then, so much less hassle letting the ebay bots open and close cases is much easier and never having to email anyone who ignores the invoice or beg for them to tick they agree to cancel so the bad buyers have the upperhand if you email them a cancellation form.

Then again not everyone is a horrible buyer and sometimes there are genuine lovely people who email and say they bid in error and want out of the sale etc etc and it is handy if they request it, then but to stop non payers doing it again and again , better off opening a case a couple of strikes or getting kicked off would stop the non paying bidders from messing sellers about.

Who knows, but they do decline. I never usually risk them, but gave in and agreed to a mutual on a buyer just after Christmas- and they blooming well declined it!

The only possible reason I can see for a buyer doing that is out of spite.

Aren't there some nasty people around!
