LG Chocolate - keypad

hi guys the wife has just got an LG Chocolate as a free upgrade can anyone tell me if the numerical keypad illuminates for texting in the dark? if so how do yo turn it on ??

ive got a white chocolate here that i am repairing and the keypad does light up on it, not very bright though

Amazing isn't it? How could the designer make such a monumental gaffe?

I have the brown lg chocolate and the keypad does light up, its very faint in daylight but clear enough in the dark. Switches off at the same time as the screen. No idea how to turn it on but I have seen other people mention resetting the phone to defaults worked for them.
