I never thought of doing that! What if the item does break - then you have to tell the buyer "sorry can't send as it is now broken!"
I'll only do that for items I buy in bulk. For an individual item that would be silly. :D

I would guess its down to the individual driver! I had a few deliveries in recent weeks of heavy items. The driver carried them up the drive and asked if there was anywhere particular I wanted them as they were heavy

I've been quite happy with their service so far

Our collection driver was fabulous, helpful, efficient, etc.. Some delivery areas are terrible. My most recent contact with them was receiving a relatively expensive new electrical item that was an empty box the item had been stolen somewhere between leaving the company (a reputable one, so no con) and being handed to me.

Their drivers are paid a relatively low per parcel fee, so understandable things will go wrong.

  • I've had a few issues this week, only because the address was a flat and I think the delivery guy was gong to the wrong place.

Apart from that I'm finding Yodel ok but I'm only a little seller so only sending a couple of things a week.
  • My experience with yodel is:

We were waiting for a small parcel (camera). we live in a block of flats and the main entrance doesn't always get closed properly so often parcels get left by your flat door.

Anyway got home from work, found a card in the mail box, "un able to deliver, we will try again" fair enough.

We get round to our front door to find a parcel leaning against it, approx. 1.5m long, 1m high and 15cm wide.

Some how we had a brand new designer bicycle delivered to us which on checking the address actually belonged to some one across the other side of town.

The only similarity in addresses was the first 3 characters of the postcode.

Our camera never arrived, we had to claim for it as not delivered and get a new one sent out.

Its not just yodel. I was in my garden yesterday, talking to my oldest son (who incidentally used to work for Yodel) when we heard a thump. It appeared to eminate from a garden centre delivery truck. The driver had to stop suddenly as he had failed to anticipate a car entering the mini roundabout junction from his right... he started off again quite abruptly, another thump! Three of them jumped out, and lying in the back ofnthe wagon was a dark wood unit of some kind, like a tv unit. It had been standing across the width of the van on a pallet, totally unsecured... they picked it up and continued on their journey. We larfed.... they actually had ties and wraps in the van, but hadnt used them.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I was supposed to of had a parcel delivered yesterday and on the tracker page it says "Rescheduled By Receiver 13/04/13 08:46 SANDWELL SERVICE CENTRE. I have not phoned yodel
I am convinced that someone at yodel has stolen it , and then updated the tracking page to say "Rescheduled By Receiver".
I will ring virgin on Monday and just hope they will believe me when I say I haven't had the phone

I do tend to complain about Yodel a lot, and with good reason. To balance it out, I ordered an item Thursday evening on 48 hour despatch, it was sent Friday and delivered Saturday at 6.30pm by Yodel. All there and in one piece, quite impressive.

It has been known, but not part of their routine. Some of the drivers like to get deliveries done rather than leaving them on their vans, so they will work Saturdays and Sundays when they don't need to.
