got a parcel delivered today, the driver opened the side door of the van and several parcels fell out, the guy just picked them up and threw them into the back of the van, which is my only experience of yodel, wont be using them anytime soon.

He was a good driver, most of them wouldn't have bothered picking them up;)harleq1962 wrote: »got a parcel delivered today, the driver opened the side door of the van and several parcels fell out, the guy just picked them up and threw them into the back of the van, which is my only experience of yodel, wont be using them anytime soon..0 -
It's the same with every parcel delivery company. A few people may remember me saying, I test my packaging by dropping stuff out of a first floor window. If it survives then my packaging is courier safe. Probably a bit ott, most couriers tell you to make sure it can be dropped from 1 meter.0

Which is why all items should be packed well. I've seen the post staff at my local mail centre 'slam dunk' parcels as though they were playing American football before now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. And no-one has mentioned the automatic sorting systems - has anyone actually seen those in action? SLAM! That one's off the belt into the correct bucket...They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Dunno about the auto sorting systems but some airport staff are even worse. I went abroad years ago and at the security thing they wanted laptops and electricals out seperately. Female security officer grabbed hold of my laptop and just chucked it along the belt as if it was a soft toy. I went absolutely mental at her.
As for Yodel they have frequently dumped stuff over the fence when delivering to us. It's a tall fence too at 6ft.0 -
I am grateful when they 'throw' the parcel over the fence, it means I don't have to driver over an hour to the depot to collect my parcel. Leave safe, well if its over a fence I suppose its better than on open view propped up against the door step.
And yes I too drop test before posting.

I think the issue is that some sellers don't understand that their items are not handled with kid gloves all the way and personally handed over on a soft cushion.
In my years of going back and forth to the post office I've seen someone send a mirror in a bin bag but assured the staff it would be OK as she had written 'fragile' on it. I've seen a celebration cake in a flimsy box being sent 1st class- and with a lsit of instructions about how to handle it, how to keep it upright, not to put it on a tilt and not to get it too hot. I've seen wedding hats marked do not put this in your sack postie, please carry it carefully , and wrapped in a clear plastic shopping bag
I'm selling china, about 6 weeks ago I dropped a wrapped tea for two tea set down my stairs from top to bottom and it hit all the walls on the way down. I unwrapped it to chekc it and thankfully my wrapping was good enough it hadn't even moved inside the foam , bubble wrap and other packingI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
