HMRC Pre-Payment TAX Free Interest

I had this "Happy" thought I should pre-pay my Tax to HMRC for 2012 and earn interest "Tax Free" on the amount. ;) Does anyone know what interest they pay?

P.S. Not absolutely sure you can do this. You used to be able to.

I think this only applies if you pay more than what is owed.

    Does anyone know ?

I know you used to be able to do it. I think its even in Martin's book (the first one). I can't seem to find what the rate is, or if its 0% = no interest now so not worth doing.
