HMRC Pre-Payment TAX Free Interest

I had this "Happy" thought I should pre-pay my Tax to HMRC for 2012 and earn interest "Tax Free" on the amount. 
Does anyone know what interest they pay?
P.S. Not absolutely sure you can do this. You used to be able to.

I think this only applies if you pay more than what is owed.

I know you used to be able to do it. I think its even in Martin's book (the first one). I can't seem to find what the rate is, or if its 0% = no interest now so not worth doing.0
