I've used cartakeback too - better price than local scrapyards (£30/40 more including those who wanted the car taking to them) turned up at prearranged time with a cheque and emailed the certificate. I looked at ebay at the time but same models as mine weren't fetching any more.

I've a feeling it is an ATF too.

Just quick update: thanks for all the replies. I used cartakeback and was very happy with the service. The man took one look inside then handed over the prewritten cheque for the agreed amount. He didn't even look in the boot or under the bonnet so I probably could have kept that brand new spare.

If I was was being super picky I would just note that the driver phoned me an hour before arriving and said he knew where he was going, then an hour later phoned for directions - he was half a mile away parked up and asked if I'd walk to him.

The only other thing I would point out is it wasn't the quickest operation to get the car on the truck. He already had two cars on the flatbed and he stacked mine on top of one of them so required getting the crane out and breaking the windscreen there and then whilst it was on the truck (at least I knew it wasn't going back on the road:)). It wasn't a problem but could have been if anyone wanted to get in or out of the car park that we were blocking.

Bare in mind that the service will vary depending on which removal company comes out.

Regarding caretakeback themselves, I thought it was a bit cheeky to ask for a review/testimonial when you book the removal because I hadn't had the service yet.
