Home insurance - is online surveys means using home for business?

Hi all,
It might be a silly question , but those days you can't be sure of anything.
I do some online surveys and I am one of the very few (I guess) silly people who actually declare it to HMRC.
On my home insurance application there is assumption that I am not using my home for business.
Did the world go so mad already that doing online surveys could be seen as business use? Obviously I have no customers or anything like that. Funny thing is that when I am doing surveys I do them mostly when I am out and about - not even at home.

Any ideas?
Many thanks

No, you don't need to worry about that.

Home insurers are happy for you to run a business from home, so long as you don't have clients/customers visiting the premises, and so long as you don't keep stock in your spare room. As long as it is 'paper based' or via computer, all is well (although you should tell them).

thank you very much for your answers, but I have to answers almost opposite to each other. I was hesitant what o do and now 15 days passed since purchasing insurance. However I still think about online surveys more as an employment than business. Someone is paying me money for doing a work for them. Is that right? That would be paradox on a grand scale if I would be ever rejected claim because I earn i.e. £30 a month in online surveys...
Any views from anyone who is in insurance business?
    Many thanks

I wouldn't make a distinction between business and employment.

You have answered that Your property is NOT used for business purposes

Your insurers should be ok with surveys but if I was you I would double check with them. Best to do it in writing.

If you do all surveys when out of the house then you have nothing to worry about.

In fact I do a lot of them outside of home but still for HMRC I give my home address for self employment declaration.

Ok. What if I ask them now - 2 weeks after purchase. But my insurance does not start until 6th May. They would not "cancel"/"refused" me an insurance?
Also do you recon I have to get that answer from broker or insurer?
    Many thanks for your effort.

I've done a google for you. The insurer you are with would cover you from working from home if it counts as clerical work, but whether you are covered at the moment you need to ask your broker.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
