Cupcakech3ry, well done for getting stuff done in the morning, I am useless first thing!!!

    I'll second that, I don't do mornings unless it's a safari holiday!

I managed to mop the kitchen floor later yesterday, as promised, and do a few things from the 'paperwork' list which I need to resume with determination today.

A little in shock after visiting nurse to get face dressing changed - she said it isn't healing terribly well although nothing to be alarmed about, and she wants to see me again Monday morning. I won't repeat what she did involving removal of dressings, steri-strips and a squirty thing of saline.

At least I managed to get to the mobile library on the way home, and have done a few surveys.

    *RANT ALERT!!*

I have HMRC - I tried to set up a standing order for my NIC contributions last year, but the details I was given were wrong and the payments bounced back. I spoke to them to sort it out and they said they could set up a direct debit and take any arrears for the first payment and then take the smaller monthly payment thereafter. So I filled in the form and spoke to them. When no DD went I called them at the start of March to check. They said they had the form but the DD would not be set up until May. She categorically said and I double and triple checked back with her (cause I didn't quite believe it would take 8 weeks to set up a DD) and she confirmed £158.90 would be taken 10th May. So, I check my bank today and they have taken £168.35 TODAY!!! Unbelieveable! So I called them to complain and after being on hold for 10minutes they then cut me off!!! AAAAARRRGGGHHH! They are so completely incompetant in so many ways. Every government office is like this. If it's not NIC, it's self assessment, if it's not self assessment, it's tax credits (and dont' even get me started on tax credits - that's a whole other story!)

Anyway, rant over! Sorry about that, but I feel a little bit better now.

Flying-wise, I have cleaned the bath, sink, toilet & floor and hoovered landing and girls rooms and stairs. Upstairs is pretty much done, just downstairs to go, but it is not too bad. Also decluttered a rather nice toastie for lunch.

Narcolepsy - that sounds nasty - hope it gets better soon.

Off to check if washing is dry - it looks like it could rain.

Fills me with confidence as I'm going freelance soon :( You seem to get all or nothing from them; I had a quick and easy self-assessment and rebate last time, while my 84yo MIL who hasn't worked for years got a bill for £8.02 which she paid, followed a week later by £100 fine for not paying. She lives in a housing association property and doesn't have any hidden fortunes (or maybe they are so well hidden that OH and I don't know about them!).

Good luck with them sorting it out.

And thanks for the good wishes; now I've calmed down a bit, it is more comfortable as I think with the swelling it was stretching the stitches and now she's smoothed it all out. Sorry TMI.

I've been self employed for a few years now and it has been ok other than the hassles over the last year with National Insurance. Mind you I do my own self assessment form online and pay online so I make sure that the bits I do are not complicated and run smoothly. There only seems to be an issue if you have to phone and speak to someone as they tend to tell you different things everytime you call. SIL called another HMRC dept. the other day and the guy said that if you don't ring them to tell them in advance you are sending them a fax it may end up being thrown away, even with a reference number and it being addressed to someone. It's beside the point that she had tried to phone and couldn't get through. We really don't stand a chance!!

    Sounds painful narcolepsy :(

Narc0lepsy healing vibes for you, mate.

Sunnygirl Don't get me started re HMRC - they've managed to b@11s up my tax good and proper:mad: - I have to do a flippin self-assessment thingy every year, because of the dog-sitting.

Mr LW has to sit and monitor systems for work all weekend; but I'm hoping he'll be able to wield a duster in between tasks.;)
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

So here's my hallway almost done:
    2ce15751362dd41b0f7f664c98d4c21f.jpg

I painted the walls orchid white, which I'd say is quite a warm vanilla cream colour, the large stripe is overtly olive feature wall and to smaller top stripe is some b&m tester pots I bought on 3 for £1.10

I've taken the feature wall paint and done the stairwell walls up as far as the bannister. I need a cut off point else I'll end up doing the landing too! Which I really don't want to do!

I've taped the rest of the walls and done the first stripe coat, so just need to do a second then other than a bit of gloss work on the spindles, and some touching up, I am finished! I'm really pleased, I love how the colours have worked out! :T

ETA lol spot the masking tape roll holder haha
