Wow that must have been the fastest posting / deletion

But not fast enough to not get quoted. :rotfl:

Also pointless deleting it as it was quoted in post number two - so people like me read it just to see if it was quoted anywhere and what was worth deleting.

There is no way out of getting out of going to the wedding.

Of course there is - it's "Sorry, we'd love to come to the wedding but we're just not able to manage it".
I assume (as you're planning your own wedding) you're a grown up, so stand your ground.
Nobody - but nobody - has the right to insist you attend something that you don't wish to (or can't afford) and nobody has the right to tell you how to spend your own money.
Thanks all, you have given me something to think about. Need to have a chat with the other half.

BTW I wouldn't mind if it were Greece or Spain, etc, but its the Caribbean :)

The sooner you politely turn down the invitation, the better.

    Man up, girl. :)

I would never, ever feel pressured into spending money on going to a wedding abroad if I couldn't easily afford it. As for compromising my own wedding plans for the sake of it? Forget it! My own wedding would be a million-times more important than some-one else's, no matter how close they were to me.

Me four! Not sure why the opening post was deleted though... normally this only happens if the replies have been a bit, how shall we say, unsympathetic. But these haven't. Not as unsympathetic as I'd have been anyway! My response to...
There is no way out of getting out of going to the wedding

...would have been 'Yes there is. Grow a pair of girl bollocks and you'll find a way'. :D

Only martyrs would cancel their own wedding to attend that of someone else.
