Newbie feedback

I have just had a message from a seller I bought a necklace from asking that I leave feedback as she can't retrieve her money until I do! It sounds like a load of rubbish to me and I hate being asked for feedback (I will do it in my own time!) but can any one confirm or deny??

Thank you :D

I had the same thing about a month ago and thought the seller was just pestering me for feedback - so I left it and thought that was the end of it - then happened to look in my paypal account a couple of days later and there was a box to tick to say I had received the item, or something like that - anyway, it looked like he really did need me to do something, but I think in paypal rather than just leaving feedback.

For my very first sale on Ebay I sold a Sony PSP console.

Paypal held on to my money and they told me that it would be released when the buyer left postive feedback OR 21 days passed , whichever came sooner.

Seems the email you received may be genuine OP

Sounds correct actually, so perhaps keep your advice to fact rather than fiction.

New sellers can have a 21 day hold put on their funds, which can be cut short if the buyer leaves feedback, actually the buyer needs to log into paypal and confirm receipt of the item.

Its true for 21 days - but they should still wait and not pester buyers.

If the buyer has got their item I don't see why they should have to wait 21 days for their money. I know having emails asking for feedback is annoying but so is having to wait 21 days.

They don't necessarily have to wait IF the buyer notifies paypal the item has been received.

Unless the item was sent tracked, how would anyone know the buyer has their item unless they confirmed this?

Though the seller is probably inviting trouble by asking for feedback, I can understand their request. Put yourself in their shoes...

You're trying to raise money for something, so you sell a number of item around the house that you don't need - good job, your items sold well, you just need to use some of the funds to post the items...

What's that? You can't get your hands on the funds until the buyer leaves feedback - or otherwise not until 3 weeks!!!

And you have to despatch the items straight away!!!

So to send the items, that means you're paying out money - not making it! (Initially at least).

In that case, either hope the buyer leaves feedback quickly ... or maybe I should explain the 21 day rule and ask them to?

...Unfortunately the newbie seller has probably thought through the situation above and come to that conclusion. It's not best idea, but it's not their fault.

But thats between paypal and the seller - the buyer as parted with their money.

We've all had to go through it with new accounts. A pain - but we have a choice if to accept.

I bought something off a new seller recently - it was too cheap - so i expected a scam. But the seller was wasting their time - as paypal will never have released their money.

I always leave feedback as soon as i know items fine - and would happily do so for a new seller, if emailed. But as porto bello says - some don't take kindly to requests - and leave a neg instead. Not a good start.

It used to take a week for us to withdraw funds from paypal - but we still had to post the item to the buyer.
