Keepsing Accounts

I was wondering if anyone can help.

I currently keep my accounts in a paper form for my small business however I would like to move it to electronic. I am just looking for something simple. Money in Money out simple as that. Does anyone know of any good templates or simple free pieces of software?

The free cashbook from https://www.vtsoftware.co.uk will satisfy those simple needs.

An excel spreadsheet would be easy and and changeable depending on your business needs.

I second this, if you not after anything fancy a spreadsheet with a few tabs should be fine, its all I use.

It really is quite simple, what manual paperwork are you keeping right now?

Don't you worry this should be rather easy then.

Do you have microsoft office, open office or any other spreadsheet software?

Not sure why you'd want to bother creating a spreadsheet when you can download the VT cash book as mentioned above. We use it a lot in house and also lots of our clients use it. It couldn't be simpler. Download and it's up and running within a few minutes and you can start entering straight away. It incorporates bank reconciliation, and produces Profit & loss account and balance sheet instantly at the touch of a button. It's a no brainer really why you wouldn't use such a simple and free software rather than trying to recreate the wheel. To the OP, I'd really suggest you try VT first.
  • I use excel and store it on hotmail skydrive (my insurance dictates I have to keep it off site). There are thousands of easy to follow guides on the internet to teach you how to set it up. Then it's a case of typing money in and money out.
