Not not isolation valve. Non-return valve. They are different animals. Look at Teds initial post. Non-return valve where you put the coupler on your image. The NRV is to stop back syphonage from the garden hose tap.

Isolating valve where you originally put it and W/M valve like this one:

in place of your tee. That gives you isolation for both outlets when needed and saves you the cost of the tee.

    Cheers

    Sorry, am confused now.

Are you saying (from right to left) isolation valve, washing machine tee with drain off valve instead of elbow, and then non return valve instead of where I had my coupler?

No. W/M valve as my image, isolation valve for outside tap, elbow (incoporating drain c o c k if you want), NRV, outside tap.

    Cheers

Ah, ok, I didn't realise there was a difference between the w/m valve you posted and the tee I suggested, makes sense now.

There might not be. The use of the word tee to me inplies one of these:

    15%20tee.jpg

then a short length of pipe followed by:

bvut reviewing your sketch again I suspect you might have been drawing the valve that I linked to. So sorry if I confused you.

    Cheers

All done. There's a drip coming out of the washing machine tee at a rate of about one drip per half an hour, don't want to fiddle too much as I read that tightening more could make it worse? I'll monitor it today and see if it settles down - it leaked really badly when I first turned it on but took off the tee and re did it. They're certainly not as good as the brass ones.

The local shop I went to didn't have any non return valve couplers but they did have taps which had valves so I bought a new one of those also.

Thanks again for all of the help.

    :rotfl:THAT!!!;)

Sancho, regarding the small leak did you use a jointing on the fittings, IF NOT then a small light smear of this or similar http://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-pipe-jointing-compound-400g-white/72963;jsessionId=T3NvRvCDpLJJVlRx8WQ5VrFhSf9sRvxsNqb2bMB5mRv8pkQPJLfv!550956489!1365426883532
around the olive and pipe that goes into the joint should cure the problem:)
