Sent money to my own BOI Card number instead of account number from my halifax

Hey,
I was in Halifax this week but forgot my card, I could only take out £50 or transfer money to my BOI account and take it out at a machine using the BOI card.
I sent the money and used the number on my card, I thought it was my account number, but it is the card number (Also 8 digits).
Obviously I didn't get the money in my BOI account, but where is it now?
Is there anything I can do to get it back?
I also had to put in the sort code with the account number, so this wouldn't have went into another account, would it?
Thanks for any help

It is a very basic current account and all the cards have an 8 digit card number, I normally use Halifax.
The sort code is for the local bank in my city, but wouldn't the sort code and account have to be correct for the money to go into an account?0 -

The chances that a random 8 digit account number plus sort code belongs to an actual real account are absolutely minute.
Since you know the sort code and number you specified for the transfer, the bank which owns the sort code should be able to identify where the money has gone. May take some time though.0 -
If the 8 digit number was not a valid account number for that sort code , then the likelihood is that Halifax would have detected that at the time of sending the payment as there are several payment outcomes after pressing the send button eg "within 2 hours"
If the sort code/ account number was invalid the payment would not have been sent or would have been returned within seconds
Sending payments when the receiving bank has been experiencing technical difficulties has resulted in messages to that effect from the sending bank (recent example - Nationwide BS)
First Trust Bank cash cards have a sort code and 7 digit card number and Irish bank's tend to copy each other (internet banking login is almost identical at BOI and AIB)
Check whether the sort code and 8 digit number is a valid account number for the sort code here

I tried the validation and it said status OK and gave the BOI in my city - But I really doubt anyone has an account in the same bank / sort code as me and also has an account number that is the same as my card number.
Anyone know what happens if there is an account with the same number as my card number, but the sort code is wrong?
Wouldn't both have to be correct, sort and account for it to go into someones account?
