Tesco mobile contract - Right to cancel? Cooling off period
Comments
-
I haven't spoken to them yet, just emailed them for now. Will be phoning them later today if i don't hear anything.
Can they refuse to cancel the contract? I only received them on Friday so i'm well within the 7/14 day cooling off period.0 -
Tesco are really good, go into one of the stores and they will look t exchange there and then. the signal may just be the phones.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I phoned tesco. They answered on the 2nd ring, once i got past the usual menu's. And he was really nice.
He said the system doesn't allow him to cancel both of them so he's cancelled one of them and barred the other. He said when they receive them back (have to wait for 2 jiffy bags to send them back seperately) the other one will be cancelled. But basically they'll both be cancelled fully once they receive them back and they'll refund, minus the data/texts i've used.
I asked if i could send them back myself using special delivery but he said they need to go back in the jiffy bag as they have a number on them so they know why its being returned. Do you think it would be ok to put them in that bag and then put them in a special delivery bag? I know i can get proof of posting them back but just want to be able to track them to make sure they've received them back so i'm not sat here wondering if they have.0 -
Off the point a bit but;terrylamps wrote: »the phone seemed abit basicWouldn't be the HTC one by any chance would it ?terrylamps wrote: »Yes that one.
I think that's the first time I have heard the HTC One described as 'basic'! Your options are rather limited to find a more advanced phone around at the moment.

My mistake, but my phones are actually the HTC Desire C. Shows how much research i did :rotfl:0 -
Please get them to confirm what they said via email or record there calls if posible. If it wasn't for the fact i recorded my dealings with a certain company i would of had a very big bill.
Contact them on Monday.
PS I can't see how they are not able to cancel two phones, at the same time and have them returned at the same time. They did it for my mother.0 -

Both phones are being returned at the same time, just in different jiffy bags.
I emailed them a notice of cancellation which i received an email saying i have to contact them through the site. I did this as well and received another email saying a rep will contact me in 24 hours. (Kept the emails).
Later the same day i decided to ring them anyway. He has emailed 2 job sheets, one for each phone which just shows that each phone has been registered to be returned to their return/repair centre. I didn't record the call but it will show on my bill that i contacted them on that date.
I've checked the account online and one of the phones is showing as 'inactive' so i'm assuming that's the one he cancelled.
I've got until 16th April if they go of the date that i actually signed up for them online or until the 18th if they go of the date i received them before the 14 day cooling off period ends.
If i don't receive the bags by the 12th i'll ring them up again and record the call.0 -
With DSR's you have 7 working days in which to cancel which starts the day following delivery.terrylamps wrote: »I've got until 16th April if they go of the date that i actually signed up for them online or until the 18th if they go of the date i received them before the 14 day cooling off period ends.

As you got delivery on Friday the first day is today.
It makes no difference when the phones are returned as they have to credit you within 30 days of cancelation regardless.
So providing you have proof of cancelation of both contracts theres no problemIt's not just about the money0 -

That's good to know. Thankyou :T
So that means i actually contacted them to cancel the day before the 7 days even kicked in. Well they can't say i didn't inform them quick enough :rotfl:0 -
Just after a bit more advice as to what could happen.
I received the envelopes today to return the phones and inside it says that the phone 'has to be returned undamaged and in its 'original and UNDAMAGED packaging'. says if u return it in a unsatisfactory condition they will attempt to contact you to discuss this.
They know that both phones have been opened to test them which they said was fine.
Now, one of the phones, apart from opening the outer sleeve and the box is still as i received it. The screen protector was never taken of it and the charger etc were never opened so are still sealed.
The 2nd phone which they know that i used for that day and the next day to test it out has had the screen protector peeled back so i could see what the screen looked like without it. I never actually removed the protector of the phone but it's not as smooth as it was because they never go back on smooth once you peel them back. And the bag that the charger came in has been opened so i could charge the phone up. There are no scratches or any damage to either phone or its componants.
The problem, well i hope it won't be a problem, is that the boxes have a outer sleeve around the box that normally you can just slide the box out of without damaging the sleeve. The problem i had with these sleeves (and 2 of us tried) was that we just couldn't slide the boxes out of the sleeve, they were too tight, so we had no choice but to actually tear the sleeves down one side to get to the boxes. I'd just like to know if they could refuse to cancel the contracts or if there could be another outcome?0
