Landlord didn't empty house

  • Just been to check on the flooring, the water has expanded the wood which has now split and risen up, causing the front of the boiler to be displaced. The flooring is raised over 2 inches off the ground, it's impossible to refit the boiler cover. Does not having a cover on the boiler matter, will it kill me?

Report this all to the landlord and the letting agent in writing ASAP, you don't want to be accused of knowing there was a leak and letting this continue. Keep a copy of the letter and the recorded delivery receipt/ proof of posting. If you don't formally report they could charge you for the damaged flooring out of your deposit, it currently being so close to the start of the tenancy there is no worries of that.

Have you got a copy of the landlord's gas safety certificate and a carbon monoxide detector installed?
