The answer from Leeds upholds my fears, they confirm that transfers in can be made throughout the 2013 / 14 calendar year but only whilst the issue is open and they cannot confirm when it will be closed.

    Bu**er :o

Still worth opening with later transfers in in mind though, as there's nothing else comparable around :(

@OP: it may be worth checking whether krbs are offering one of their flexible fixed rate accounts at the mo'.

P.S. I've checked for you - their 2 year FR ISA pays 2.4% p.a., needs £1000 to be opened, and accepts subsequent transfers in.
Free the dunston one next time too.

Are Halifax rates any good to you (dont know your capital sum) but if they are , you could keep your eye to MSE to hear when they are about to close (print off application form ready perhaps) and delay the application as late as poss , so that perhaps the 60 days they allow for transfer from application received day, might get you to the maturity date of the Skipton? Need careful timing though. Just a thought.
