Euro car park fine

Hi
I have just had a letter through the post with a fine for £70 from euro car park. I stayed in a car park for 3 hours and i was only allowed to stay for 2. It was a sunday afternoon and the shops closed at 4pm. I was at a swimming gala watching my daughter. I just assumed the parking restrictions stopped at 4pm when the shops closed. When we got back to the car we were the only car there.
We live in Scotland so i don't know if the law is any different up here in regards to these fines.
What should i do?
Cheers
Ross

It's not a fine! If its your car ignore them as its Scotland and there is no appeals worthy of mention. You'll get a series of begging letters asking for money, ignore them as well unless you get something like court papers. Which is highly unlikely to happen as euro never go there. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

The main difference is that POFA does not apply in Scotland, so ignoring them altogether is your only best option.

Thirded, ignore it completely, do not respond. Just keep all the letters in a drawer marked 'scam' to tell your friends & family about.
The Watchdog video applies to you because in Scotland they have to know who was driving and there is no appeals procedure worth bothering with. So this is what an expert solicitor's advice is for you:

Do not respond AT ALL as any appeal could well give them information. Not that it really matters too much with ECP because they admitted in a national newpspaer that they don't do Court. Like most PPCs they just send scary threatograms for you to laugh at - they cannot affect your credit rating.
So it's playing snap with these threatograms for you to look forward to:

HTH, easy!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
