You don't always know how much you're going to pay and sometimes the pay is more about the candidate than the job. I've recruited for posts where we would, for example, have paid Candidate A £19k but Candidate B £30k. They could both do the job but they would each do it very different ways. If you advertise at £19 to 30k you probably wouldn't get both applying.

Don't they usually say that's its for commercially sensitives reasons or something and that's why they don't advertised?!

But I agree they should advertised at a salary range or a minimum salary.
    Bad luck breeds bad luck.

    Damn I'm doomed.

You could always contact a job advert asking what the salary might be?

Just don't use anything you have put on your CV.

If they respond happy days, if not you've lost nothing.

I don't apply for any job where they do not advertise the salary.
  • I don't see what difference being forced to advertise a salary range would make.

I went for a job where the salary range was £15-£18K ..and at interview said my expected salary was £16.5K (so mid range)

Didn't get the job only because they couldn't afford me......yeah I wondered that one as well
