Next time I opened it up - it gave a small box and asked somethign about a default user setting...no matter what I clicked it would give another warning so I had to delete 'default'.
But then it deleted all my history and cookies and stored passwords - just like using a browser for the first time.
Even had to get my MSE password again.....
Not very satisfactory!
Same thing here, Thanks for the advice re profiles shrek101 and sra. In my new basket: A slightly whiffy blanket; Racy’s 2nd favorite jumper; remains of a slipper; 2 sticks (1 chewed); bouncy ball collection (4); Racy’s iPod :shhh: and a large sock (found under Racy's bed)0 -
Thanks for the warnings re the profiles ... glad I read the whole thread before going to install now
What's the best way to back-up these files, and where would I find them please?
Cheers "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

My profile is in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data \Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ck5m5pi0.default
where Stephen is my xp user account and ck5m5pi0 is a random thing firefox makes up to make that profile unique
(might have to have 'show hidden folders' selected in folder options)
All you have to do is Exit Firefox, copy that folder and put it in a safe place
If you ever need to restore it, copy the contents of that folder and put it where you got it from originally (replacing what's in there).
If you've installed a new version of Firefox, you're new profile will have a different random thing at the end (and that's why you're replacing the contents rather than the folder itself - the new firefox will be looking for it's own folder.)0 -
Does anyone know if laptop touchpad scroll problems have been sorted on this version?
The work around i had to use was roll back drivers on my synaptics touchpad.0 -
Ahhhh yes, thankyou
... I seem to remember having to do something similar when I reformatted my HDD ... it's all coming back to me now
(cue Celine Dion)
So would you recommend a clean install or is it safe for me to update 1.0.2?

Clean install is always better but I've just put 1.0.3 on top and it seems to be working ok (fingers crossed)Does anyone know if laptop touchpad scroll problems have been sorted on this version?

from the documentation, the upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 seems to be just security fixes0 -

Thanks, I'll probably leave it till tomorrow and do a clean install then. I did the last two as updates and all seemed to go ok, well apart from the slowness of loading this site at times and getting "no data in document" messages, but don't know if that would have occured with a clean install anyway"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
