What's New 1.0.3

Firefox 1.0.3 is a security update that is part of our ongoing program to provide a safe Internet experience for our customers. We recommend that all users upgrade to this latest version.

Here's what's new in Firefox 1.0.3:

* Several security fixes.
* Fix to improve update process.

Seems to now install correctly over the top of firefox assuming you closed it down and removes the extra updates in add/remove example Mozilla V1.01 and V1.02 have nwo gone from them and replaced with Mozilla V1.0.3

Does anyone know if it will solve the dreaded 'Document contains no data' bug??

    I hope so.

    Thanks

    thanks

    just installed it over 1.0.2
(technically you're supposed to remove earlier versions first but this comes so quickly after 1.02 decided just to take the risk)

works great and only took a minute

Unfortunately this seems to be the international version. 1.0.2 came with a British version that had british search plugins. This one has added all the annoying American ones (or maybe I didn't pay enough attention when installing)

see this post for controlling plugins

I like how http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/all.html lists the US and British versions as:

    English
    English (British)

Americans are so 'world-centric' when it comes to the internet and PC software in general :(

Downloaded 1.0.3 - and did a weird thing....

Next time I opened it up - it gave a small box and asked somethign about a default user setting...no matter what I clicked it would give another warning so I had to delete 'default'.

But then it deleted all my history and cookies and stored passwords - just like using a browser for the first time.

Even had to get my MSE password again.....

    Not very satisfactory!

londonman81 - your profile might still be there - look for it where it tells you in the link above

I keep regular backups of my profile. If something goes wrong with ff, I don't usually try to fix it.

I just un-instal it and make sure all of it is gone:
    • make sure C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox is deleted,
    • delete the old profile (which isn't removed then you un-instal firefox),
    then re-instal
then put the backed-up profile in place

Takes about ten minutes and means I don't spend the whold day trying to figure out what went wrong.
