Morrisons Sun Lotion

Hi all
Wasn't sure which section to post this in so apologies if it's best suited elsewhere.
I was doing the weekly shop at Morrisons yesterday and was thinking of stocking up on sun lotion for when we go to Spain. Had a look at Nivea etc etc and then noticed Morrisons own brand for about £3 a bottle!
Now my first impression was that the Morrisons one must actually be better as it had a 5 star rating for both UVA and UVB protection whilst some of the others only had 3 stars for UVA but we all know about false economy! End up buying the cheapest but have to slap that much on you go through a bottle each time.
So I was wondering if anyone has used it and would you recommend it?
Thanks!

My OH used it last year when he had terrible sun burn and it did the job. I havn't used alot of sun cream in past to compare but I have to admit Morrisons own brand do tend to be pretty decent (And most of the stuff is made by the top companys anyway like thier ceral is made by nestle! -.-)
Edit: He had terrible sun burn because wearing sun lotion is a 'woman and kids' thingPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Thanks for that! I know exactly what you mean, after deciding not to wear a hat and sit out all day in the sun in Dominica resulting in sun stroke, my DH promised that one our honeymoon in Mexico he would cover up. About 5 days in and he decided he'd weathered the storm and was safe to go uncovered, resulting in me spending the next 2 nights sat in the bar on my own while he was laid in bed with sun stroke! :mad:0

I think one of the main advantages about buying own brand sun cream compared to the branded ones is that because it's cheaper, you'll be more inclined to use enough of it. I can't recall the exact amount but aren't you spposed to use 4 tablespoons or thereabouts for the average person per application? At £10 a bottle you're more inclined to skimp while at £3 a bottle you can afford to use plenty.
I buy Tesco own brand usually (only because I shop in there, it would be Morrisons cream if I shopped there) and it's always been fine, the only time any of us get burned is when yes, you guessed, OH hasn't bothered to put any on.Val.0 -
I can highly recommend Superdrug's own sun lotions and creams - very good value and also, BUAV (Leaping Bunny) approved. I watch out for a bogoff and hoover up enough to last the summer.0

I've not used Morrisons own brand but I use Boots Soltan for the reason highlighted - 5 stars for UVA & UVB.
I also like the fact some of their suncream has mosquito repellant in.
I used to use Avon but last time I looked they had no UVA/UVB rating on their sunscreen at all.0 -
I've used the cheaper brands and the expensive ones. I find them to do equally as good a job.
The hardest part is finding the ones you like regarding smell and application. My favourite is the Malibu dry oil spray.0 -
I always use Hawaiian tropic as it smells lovely and has good UVA/b ratings. I buy it when it's bogoff or from eBay I find that's a good place to get name brands cheaper. Or sometimes I get Ambre Solaire as I find that's not greasy either.
I can't stand most of Morrisons own label stuff as I've had so many problems with it (bin liners with holes in is just one of a few) so I don't think I'd dare try their sun cream. OH once bought a supermarket sun cream and it was so sticky we had to throw it away it was awful. Unfortunately I can't remember which one is was from!0 -
A vote for Malibu dry oil spray from me.....I have never burnt with it, dead easy to put on. And probably because it is cheap I put loads of it on frequently0

I can recommend Asda's own brand sun lotion. It was recommended to me by a customer in Asda last year when I was deciding what to buy. It did a good job when I went for a week on a Nile cruise even though the temperatures were in the 30s.0

Thanks for all the replies!
Taking into account everything that has been said, I think I'll give it a go. We're only going to Spain so if it's that bad I could just buy some more out there.
Regardless of what I buy no doubt DH will end up doing the 'manly' thing and going without! :huh:0
