Santander - bad customer service

Very disappointed in Santander, tried to open an ISA for 2012/13 tax year in the branch, they advised they were unable to assist and advis I can do this on the phone or on line. I phoned customer services and they advise dhtey cant open the account and directed me to online and assured me I was able to open it on line. However needless to say I was only able to open the account for the new tax year - even though hte deadline is today. I phoned them back to ask for assistance and they were very unwilling to help in any way.

Shame to hear that as their service has improved a lot over the past 12-18 months.

I think its the name of the game trying to squeeze a few percent from the best deals that sometimes you just have to bat your way through.

    Cheers

I think you've left it too late to open an ISA with Santander for 2012/13.

It had to be open by yesterday iirc.
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)

You've had a year to do this, you decide to open one on the last day of the tax year during the banks busiest period and all of a sudden it's Santander's fault?

Do yourself a favour and open your 2013/14 one next week and save yourself some grief

They are no doubt snowed under given it is the last day of the financial year, why should you be given priority to jump the queue?

So much for the NEWBIE ALERT on the OP first post.

Yes he may have expected too much but it sounds like he did not receive the most courteous of service. Give him a break, we have all been there.

Diaries have been full for around 2 weeks to see advisers. I'm afraid in this day and age you cannot walk into a bank branch on the last day of the tax year and expect to be seen before people who have pre-booked appointments.

It's not a case of sign here anymore. The FSA put paid to that. When you go into branch there are terms and conditions and key facts sheets which members of staff are obligated to run though.
