Wonga confusion!? HELP!!
Options
Ok to keep this as short as possible, i set up a payment plan with wonga, they accepted and said they would take £41.52 each month until cleared. the first payment day came and they did not take the money i thought due to the bank holiday so i left it in, days later they still didnt take it so the money was taken for something else via direct debit. On my account the interest is still frozen, asif they have the payment? or simply arent looking at my account. I emailed to let them know anyway and to ask to re start the plan from next month - no reply. There has been no communications between us what so ever and my account today still has interest frozen. I got paid last week a day early and didnt realise and panicked that they would take it - they didnt. But this week i am worried they will because of missing that payment? I am in contact with the bank and they are watching my account to try and stop wonga taking any money. i will draw it all out first thing in the morning around 6am. does anyone know what time they take it IF they try? and also advice on the situation?
Thanks
Thanks

If they haven't taken the money, why is it disappearing somewhere else?
You have agreed to the repayment plan but now you are spending their money elsewhere. Even worse, now trying to remove any mechanism they have to take any payments at all.0 -
Firstly read it properly. I set up a direct debit with the bank, so because wonga didnt take their money, i used it for something else as it was midweek and i wasnt getting paid until the following friday and dont have a lot to go around i only work part time. Secondly theyre blocking payment to a POINT meaning they can only take it on these specified dates - of which they didnt so how am i in the wrong? im worried they will take it out tomorrow on the date that isnt agreed !0

When did i say i wonder why im in a mess? if youre going to be less than helpfull dont comment! I was on full time hours at the time of the payday loan, however i had to extend 1 month, meaning the interest built up and was out of control before i had time to blink. im not irresponsible ive set up the plan with them my simple question was why didnt they take it out and why hasnt my account reflected this!!0

The point is that a few days ago you had £41.52 sitting in your account, which was set aside for Wonga. If they had taken that money when you expected them to, what would you have done mid-week when you were so sort of money?
I doubt anyone here will be able to tell you when Wonga intend to take payment. Direct Debits sometimes hit accounts a little later than expect, especially during holiday periods. Maybe, if you're lucky, they'll take the first payment next month.
You'll have to contact Wonga to find out what they intend to do.0 -
With that attitude, you should be glad someone's helping you at all.0

I have an attitude because people are making out im irresponsible when im not, ive sent countless emails to get that plan set up. i had the wonga money set aside yes, but the bank kindly reminded me i had a direct debit set up which i had totally forgotten about as it was setup some weeks before and they were supposed to send me a letter confirming but didnt. The direct debit is in no way related to wonga. I left it a good 4 days after the bank holiday before re setting the direct debit with the bank. my point is, after that was taken there was still a good £30 in the account, if wonga wanted to they could have taken that, but didnt? ive had no emails no calls and as i said my account still shows as interest is frozen. i just dont want them taking that money tomorrow when as on the agreed date it was there and they did not take it0

Unfortunately when you agreed the payment plan, you did need to keep that money available - they could take it on the day or a later one, but you can't unilaterally decide that if they don't take it straight away they can't have it any more. If they now try and take it and it is not there, you have broken the terms of the payment plan.
Wonga are one of the more reasonable Payday companies, so you may be okay if you keep communicating with them. However, the standard Payday repsonse when someone breaks an agreed payment plan is to take any money they can get at any time of day. So they might try at one minute past midnight, and if that fails, try again several times throughout the day for different amounts until they have emptied your account. They won't just take the agreed amount, because in their eyes you have broken that agreement, so they will continue trying until they have the full amount due.
If there is any way you can put the agreed amount into your bank and keep it available for Wonga, I would strongly advise that you do so.0 -
Surely they have to stick to their terms aswel? meaning on that date as its set to that date for a reason.. they had plenty of oppurtunity from friday to the following wednesday and did not take it, its a good job i dont have any other bills coming out of that account. What i dont understand is you are correct in that in their eyes ive broken the agreement but surely if i have, then it would show on my account and doesnt? Thats where the confusion lies. i have emailed and told them twice this week about the situation and had no reply.0

I think you need to speak to Wonga and ask them what they have done.
If they've tried to take the money and the direct debit has failed because your bank account was too low on funds then that won't help the situation with them. Keep communicating with them and ask them to give you a specific date and payment amount so that both of you are happy. The first direct debit doesn't always work, I've just transferred my Virgin Media and Eon direct debits to Santander and both have failed to go out so I'm having to sort it out manually.
All the best0
