Broadband without phoneline

Hi folks
Can anyone tell me which is the cheapest broadband provider without a landline? This is in the Coventry area. At present I'm with Virgin Media.

as far as i know it's either broadband with phone line or mobile broadband with a dongle.

if your in a Virgin Media Cable area you can get 30mb for £22:50 a month no phone line

I walked past a Virgin Media shop today and they were advertising a "manager special" Broadband deal where line rental isn't necessary. I'm not really clued up enough when it comes to Internet, but does this sound normal?

I currently pay a set amount for the Internet connection, as well as my phone line rental. I figured this was the case for everyone.

Unfortunately I can't share links so I can't give you any more information, but could anyone clear up how this would work?

VM's broadband is separate to the phone line, unlike BT/Sky/O2/Whatever, so you don't need one to use it.

However, when you do have a VM phone line, they will discount your broadband cost.

VM's 30Mb broadband alone costs £22.50pm, but if you take a phone line at £14.99pm the BB cost drops to £14.50pm.

So the upshot of this (given I've no intention of getting a phone line unless necessary) is that the said offer would see me spending £22.50, as opposed to £29.49 on 30mb?

Virgin Media have their own infrastructure, so when you take broadband, they run a cable into your property, so there's no need to rent a separate line.

I have a VM triple-play package, and when I enquired about removing the phone component, the price actually went UP! I've now unplugged my telephone - no problem
