We took delivery of 36 bottles from Tesco bought on 30th March getting a list price of £245 (inc delivery) for £120 by taking advantage of all the offers going.

As I said to the driver at 2pm, "These will last me all afternoon."

Does thrifty buying make me an alcoholic? Does a glass of wine with dinner most evenings make me an alcoholic?

It's great reading this thread, I'm realising how much not drinking wine is saving me ;)
i before e, except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour
  • Unless OP there were signs up stating the offer was still on then quite simply its your fault for presuming and not checking when you went back into the store.

You could always get them refunded?

You have very strange (and rather poor) friends, if they jump to any sort of conclusion like that.

Why do you think someone stocking up on essential items is OK, but on non-essentials indicates a problem? Clearly the only problem here is with you, who cannot fathom that someone may bulk buy a product and store it, to use as and when they require.

How much is too much though? 12 bottles would take me a couple of years to get through? I think you have the same issues as the original poster. There is plenty of help available once you can admit that you have an issue.

It's futile trying to discuss with someone who can't comprehend bulk buying to save money, doesn't understand the difference between purchase and consumption, and is incapable of seeing the world from any perspective but their own.

12 bottles would last me 12 weeks. So I must have an alcohol problem then? I mean ... 1 bottle a week (approx 12-15 units) is astounding eh? ;)

Have you thought about getting advice for your problem? 12 bottles is an awful lot of alcohol.

Its not your money but the OP's so not sure why your saying the OP has a problem when you dont know the OP, maybe they had some special occaisons coming up, some birthday presents to use a bottle of wine for.

When you have no idea why the OP bought 12 bottles of wine, and it's frankly none of your business, do you not think you should save your ridiculous judgemental preaching for a more appropriate place rather than a money saving forum ?
And actually, with today's news, maybe the OP had a premonition and was scheduling a party to mark the passing of Margaret Thatcher ?
    :)
