Can you change IVA providers

Options
I was just wondering if this was possible, or are you stuck once committed?

I would ask advice from your insolvency practioner.

I am with Debt Free Direct and I find mine very helpful, and sometimes I can take payment breaks if need be.

If you dont know who your Insolvency Practitioner is, contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau and ask to speak to their debt adviser.

    Would they not be offended?

We've asked to take a break but they didn't even entertain it.

    Thanks will do.

Depends what you mean by 'committed'.

Up to the point of your creditors meeting, you are free to pull-out.

Once your IVA is up and running, I believe the only way to swap providers is to allow your IVA to fail, then re-apply for a new one using your preferred company. That means you are back to square one - probably with a similar level of initial debt, with your old IP's fees lobbed on top. Also it means another 6 Years of poor credit history, not to mention the fact that some of your creditors may not vote in the new IVA's favour. After all, if you have just failed one, why would proposing another be any more suitable?

So in reality, not practical to swap in my opinion.

Hello there, UpToMyNeckInIt has outlined to the key reasons as to why switching provider may not be possible. Do you know who your IVA is with - and also when did you take it out? Finally, is there a reason as to why you need to take a repayment break? Some IP's may allow a repayment break but it can be dependent on what the circumstances are.

    Best wishes,

    David.
