LONDON (Reuters) - Gold is gearing up for the start of a bear market cycle in 2014 after more than a decade of gains as consumer demand for jewellery, coins and bars declines and central bank buying plateaus, metals consultancy GFMS said.

It's either a very good day to buy gold or a very good day to sell gold that's for sure.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0

The price of gold in sterling has not returned to it's peak from September 2011. This does not affect me personally because I bought at an average of 655 GBP.
Even so, it is still a puzzle to me as to why prices have been depressed.
And all most precious metals heads can offer by way of explanation is unproven claims of manipulation, alongside the more ludicrous claims that central banks have secretly sold most, if not all, their gold.
Arguments of a bubble in golds price deflating have more credibility. Even though I don't support such arguments.

As the metals analyst at Goldmans said yesterday.

I bought some gold last September - just my luck to buy at the end of a 5000 year bull run.0

Not concerned. Like all long term investments, if it's worth more in 25 years time than it is now then I'll be happy enough, if it's not then the fish tank will look pretty.0
