childcare overpayment - help needed

I dont have all the answers just saying it like it is. Wife had to retake gcse's then did a year in social care before deciding in childcare. Im not sure how easy it is to become a childminder with so many childcare centres around nowadays. We just decided this would be a good way for her to get some real practical experience.0

Not all of the remaining cash was withdrawn. We have some savings at home which we used. Thats where the problem has stemmed from. The fact that our bank statements do not show the cash being withdrawn to pay for the childcare.0

You do seem to have an answer for everything that is thrown at you......presumably you were working till 7-8pm every night as well?
So basically your wife took a 16hr a week, cash in hand job, possibly paying NMW = £99.04, even though the childcare was going to cost £250. The max assistance from TC's is 70% = £175 which meant £75 would be paid by yourselves, giving a net gain of £24.04.
If indeed your wife was earning approx £100 cash in hand, presumably the bank statements provided would have shown the other £150pw being withdrawn to pay the childcare provider?
What kind of childcare provider was it?
It doesn't matter when the OP was working or indeed when his wife was working.
You should know there are no rules that require work to link to the childcare. You could work 16 hours, have a grandparent looking after the children and then put them in childcare on your days off. Nothing at all stopping you doing that. You could put them in and go to the gym if you are meeting the requirements of the element by working at some other time.
So why they needed childcare or indeed whether it was worth it is irrelevant. The OP has already said that his wife had trained and was wanting experience, i can't understand the need to attack his situation. If he had come on here saying his wife wasn't going to work because it wasn't worth it financially people would have had plenty to say about that as well.
OP - send in your appeal, if you have the receipts and the contracts from the childcare provider and payslips from the employer the appeal will succeed.
