Capital alternatives are an investment company offering many investments. They have sent me brochures offering land investments, mining investments, amongst others including hotel rooms, wine, art and gold. [text deleted by MSE Forum Team] I have done a small amount of research on capital alternatives and cannot really find anything. I would like to invest in land or even a hotel room but am scared incase they run with my money

It stinks. You would be crazy to invest money with them. Here is one of the mildest articles I found about them from Money Observer:

Why are you looking at unregulated investments? It's a minefield [text deleted by MSE Forum Team]. Don't be fooled by supposedly sky high returns.0 -

All high risk areas. [text deleted by MSE Forum Team]
Stick to firms regulated by the FSA if you want to invest. Stick to conventional investments if you dont know what you are doing.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
See these projects. Both marketed exclusively by Capital Alternatives. They are not the independent sales organisation that they claim to be. Renwick Haddow is a consultant to The Capital Organisation that works out of the same offices. Beware.

Danger: green investment from Capital Carbon Credits - Investigations
For proof that high-end investment schemes are a magnet for serious criminals, look no further than Mark Ayres.
Before he got involved in a dodgy "green" investment scheme, he did time for conspiracy to murder.
He used to be known as Mark Heaver and got 13 years for paying hit men to kill a rival in a Merseyside turf war between boxing promoters.
That was in 1995, when the judge in the case described the crime as of the "utmost gravity".
After he got out of jail Heavers changed his name to Mark Ayres and founded a company that was paid by the government to deport illegal immigrants.
His International Trading Agency (Overseas Escorts) Limited went into liquidation leaving huge unpaid debts, having paid just £370 towards a tax liability of £427,000, according to the Insolvency Service. In November 2010 Ayres was banned from being a company director for six years, which doesn't seem to have made much of a difference.

Dear WE ARE WATCHING,
Your posting suggests that you may have some insider knowledge of their operations. I know some investors who are discussing their options with solicitors and would welcome any additional information. I'm not sure if this is the usual protocol on forums, but if you would like to make contact with those people they can be contacted on capclients@gmail.com0 -

Whatever happened to "new members can't post links" ? Maybe mailto links are not covered which is very dodgy,0

Dear Speakymeadows, Thanks for signing up and posting your link to help those in need. Unfortunately, you may get a small amount of negativity surrounding your posts, for the simple reason most posters on here who have followed threads such as this understand the nature of secondary scams, where friendly people purport to help those in need only to turn out to be not so friendly after all and be scammers themselves. It goes something like this:
Poster A: Help! I've been scammed by some dodgy wine / land / investment company!
New Posters B,C,D:Poor you! how awful! It happened to me too!
Evil New poster E who really wants the contact details of vulnerable people so he can scam some more:And me! but guess what! I've got this email you can contact some professionals (away from this forum and pesky cynics) who will help you (loose some more money!)
New Posters F,G,H: What a great idea! I'll contact these helpful people straight away!
I should write plays for a living, Shakespeare's got nothin' on me!Edible geranium0 -
Thanks Bugbyte for explaining what has happened in the past. I am new to forums and this is not an attempt to gain anyone's contact details (other than We Are Watching). To avoid any doubt, nobody except WAW should make contact because he/she appears to have some inside knowledge. As far as I am aware there has been an announcement of 'financial irregularities' yet WAW has been able to put a value on it and also names 4 people. He/she also refers to Renwick Haddow as 'renwick' which implies a closer relationship. Sometimes the only way to fully expose these people is if one or two victims are prepared to prosecute the case. I believe that there are some people who are doing just that and it may be that WAW can help fill in some pieces of the jigsaw.0

At worst I think it more likely to be solicitors trying to drum up business.0
