XBox360 repair help

I wonder if anyone know anywhere I can get an xbox360 repaired in the North East, I really don't want to send it back to microsoft as I have heard they send you a reconditioned unit back and they don't last very long. I can take it to wherever it needs to go.

When/if you repair your's it will be no better than a re-conditioned one. Infact i imagine they clean them out (fan dust) etc. too.

My friend had one changed and the courier picked it up and a new(ish) one was delievered 2 days later, can't complain really.

Anyway sorry I can't help with your actual question but just telling you the option of sending to MS is brighter than you may think

Thanks for your help/advice. The only problem with this, is that when I rang microsoft support they said it would cost approx £180 to repair. I have bought a new 360 but just wanted this one repaired to keep in another room. Thanks anyway.

Its worth giving these guys a ring, i cant vouch for them but £55 to have the 3 red light syndrome fixed is cheap and their customer feedback Here looks good

Return it to the shop with a copy of the sales of goods act in your hand. 18 months is not an acceptable life of a £300 games console.

If in any doubt ring trading standards and keep trying with your retailer. My brother bought a console on-line (Game) about 18months before it did the same as yours and they kept telling him it was out of warrenty. He kept trying and did his research and found that Watchdog had investigated this as well. After a few phone calls and speaking to various managers/supervisors he got it replaced a a "good will gesture". My advice is if at first you dn't get anywhere keep pushing and quoting the Sale of Goods act as above.

Thanks, I went into currys today but they just didn't want to know and told me to get in touch with microsoft again. I am just going round in circles so i think i will give this up as a bad experience. Thanks again.

Don't give up. We had the same thing with my brother's console. Just quote the sale of goods act and if in any doubt get in touch with trading standards. It's even worth dropping a letter to the head office if the local store doesn't take any notice of you.

As Kido says keep going to the store, sales of goods act is king if you pay £20 for a dvd player you should expect it to last at least 12 months for the warrenty period. if you spend £500 on a DVD player I would be so annoyed should it only last 12 months.
The sales of goods act states that the item should be sutable for purpose and wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale). The xbox 360 is inherently faulty just seach for the ring of death in google to see that it isnt a one of problem just on yours. I know someone that has had 6 replacement xbox 360's and others who have had more than 1 replacement.

Take a few printed sites and show them that it is inherently faluty and not just a one off. If he wants to confimr this info is corect contact trading standards then you can tell the store you have been in contact with Tradeing standards who have told him to return to the store wit the evidence and by law it is the retailer to sort the problem out not the manufacturer.

All stores are told to tell people to go to Microsoft, Everyone I know has persued the store have walked waya with a new replacement console.
