I don't really care if i'm going against the grain but i do and will continue to buy second hand shoes/boots ect for my 3. To be honest i only buy stuff that clearly hasn't been worn much if at all. You can just tell, anything thats moulded to a shape or has any signs of wear i won't buy.
The only other place i get cheap shoes/boots is in the sales anywhere i see them really normally out of season.
I picked up some lovely size 9 minnie mouse snow boots from asda the other day for £6 my dd is in 7's at the mo so with any luck they will fit next year. If not i should at least get my money back selling on the bay.
I always have a cupboard of sale/bargain shoes in the next few sizes up.
Worst case senario for me is one of the boys coming in from playing and saying they've got a hole and i have to go out and pay full price!
Never spend more than £7 on shoes but i do have the benefit that we don't need school shoes as mine are homeschooled.0 -

That's just reminded me that now DD has started back cheerleading she'll need special trainers just for that - who would have thought you needed special trainers for cheerleading?!! They've got "indents" cut in the soles so basers can grip the flyers. Or something. Anyway, her old ones will be too small now so that's something else I'm going to have to fork out for.
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
What brand of shoe do you buy? If this style suited my son's flat foot and lasted him longer, it would be more cost effetive for me to do this. ETA Sorry, and how old is your son?
He is 13, I have been buying them since he was 11. They are ki ckers, I find that they last him a long time, he tends to walk by dragging his feet and these are the only shoes that do not fall apart at the soles. I tried cheaper shoes before, but they only lasted about a month and I had to buy shoes again. My son has flat feet and these shoes are really cushioned and comfortable inside so really help him.0 -

Haha, Mine do activities that don't require footweartrampolining, gymnastics, swimming and then they wear their school shoes for dance mats, etc.

I buy school shoes from Clarks (current ones were £36 I think).
I buy trainers in a decent brand or Clarks (current ones are Gola Hi top, £12 in sale).
He has school plimsolls for gym (£7 ish) and also has a pair of converse style shoes for summer garden play (£6 ish).
I try to get footie boots cheaper, though cannot always, and just had to pay £10 today for his shin guards.
Wellies from wherever we can get ones he likes (current ones £8 ish).
We sometimes get passed on or second hand clothing, and school jumpers, but footwear generally new. Buying the cheaper clothes he does not protest too much about as it means more money so he can do more activities.

I've bought from Clarks but I also buy from Russell & Bromley. I always thought they would be more expensive but they measure like Clarks do and have a bigger choice and prices that are no more expensive.

WOW I must be a skinflint! LOL
I always buy my Grandsons school shoes for him and have never gone wrong so far as in they fit well and last for ages...
My budget is £10 and I always buy coated leather
I got one pair in the sale @ Deichmann , really good quality shoes so was thrilled and another pair I got on Amazon with a 20% off code and they came in at under £10 and have lasted ok but the Deichman pair was better
I usually do ALOT of hunting around first for the best prices / quality bargains and I only choose good quality coated leather ones like I said , but it is a bit of a long bargain hunt which I enjoy anyway so my challenge is to always find a good pair for him for £10 or under and it is worth the effort
I'm not sure about Clarkes , have heard stories of them not lasting even if they cost around £40 which I could not afford anyway! :eek:0
