How much do you pay for kids shoes / school shoes

School shoes for my two are always Clarks, I've never had an issue with them, and the style I get now for DS have got a sort of rubber protective arrangement at the front which helps no end with scuffing (or not scuffing!). Also, DH is almost OCD with shoe polishing and even after two terms of wear their shoes are like new. When DS was a toddler he had a pair of Clarks shoes that fell apart after a fairly short period of time and when I went to get him a new pair they gave them to me for free when they saw the state of the ones he was wearing even though they were fairly new. Can't fault that.
Other than that, the rest of their shoes are from various other shops. DS's rugby and football togs are on a hand me down basis either from DD or from friends, poor child hasn't had a new pair of togs ever! He did develop a liking for Nike trainers from about the age of five though so I tend to look for them in sales, I wouldn't pay full price for them!
DD also has a liking for black boots for school in winter time which I was going to get from Clarks until I saw the price, and then I got her a pair from Asda!!!:D
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
I go to the Clarks outlet near us but TBH prices have really crept up there, these days it's £25-£30 a pair. I've never had an issue, they always last.
I get crocs from primark or next, DS lives in them in the summer, he'd sleep in them if he could. :rotfl:

When younger it would be whatever fitted at the best price possible (15ish), with a view to them growing out of them quickly and being replaced 2-3 months or so later. It's tended to be clarks (35-40) as growth slowed down - they've lasted well.0

If I am totally honest I get them measured in Clarks then scour the car boots in the summer for the right sizes, have picked up pairs for as little as £1 this way! Also get hand me downs from friends who have kids the same age as mine but who are a lot bigger!0

I've just been out to Clarks today and had DSs feet measured and bought him a new pair of shoes as his were too small.
He is 2 and the shoes were £30 (ridiculous I know) but they should last him for at least a year as I got him 6.5's and his feet are measuring just over 6.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -

DD doesn't look after footwear (seriously how can you scuff the front of your feet until they wear through?!) and after she lost a shoe at school which didn't turn up in lost property until months later when I had thrown the other one out I refused to spend that sort of money on her.
Snap - I was horrified when I realised the state of my DDs school shoes on Saturday - then I got given my neices old school shoes (she had outgrown) on Sunday and they look newish still! Unbelivabley they are exactly the same size and style as my daughters so saved me spending out again
I have no idea how my DD goes through shoes so fast. Her sisters are fine.Save £12K 2013 #54 - £4625/£15k£19,625 saved since 2011£50,000 by August 2014SPC #1925 £600 -
I buy Clarks or similar for DD, two pairs at a time ie shoes and boots or shoes and sandals. I never buy used footwear because feet are too important. They need to be looked after. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Second hand shoes can damage your own childs feet by forcing them to walk with their feet in the same position as the shoes previous owner which can cause foot, leg, back or hip pain. Not to mention fungal and bacterial infections.. I wouldn't wear other peoples shoes and I wouldn't let my children either.
Kickers are crap now, they used to be really durable the last pairs we have had a few weeks and the stitching came undone.
We get Clarks or startrite usually.
2 of mine (8 and 10) have to have boots due to mobility issues so I have spent over £90 on more than 1 occasion to get the best that I can for them. One has a raise on her boot so she get them a month before she needs them so we can sort this out. They both have orthotic insoles.
They all only have 1 pair of shoes and 1 pair of trainers. The pre-schoolers have shoes and boots or shoes and doodles. Open toe sandals are patented by the devil himself so I won't have them.
DS3 has diabetes so cannot have any rubbing or pressure in case of future circulatory issues.
At Clarks I think they are currently £28 (for the 18 month old) up to £55 for the older ones boots.
I was devastated I had to bin my 2 years old boots after they had a rotting dead mouse in them and the smell will not go.. so £40 to replace those!
I spend an absolute fortune on shoes. Foot problems caused in childhood are one of the main causes of adult back and posture problems and I am not going to be responsible for that so they get expensive shoes and clothes from charity shop/carboot/ebay etc.
Clothes are to keep you war and cover you up, shoes are to protect your feet.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
We spend whatever it costs to get shoes which fit them well. DD's boots this year were £59.99 from Jones bootmaker (she's 11). We managed to get her some hush puppies from to max for £17 after she went through her school shoes very quickly. The leather was immaculate, the sole barely worn but they were letting in water somewhere. She is difficult as she has wide feet with a high instep.
DS has skinny feet and a high instep. He's also a nightmare. He has trainers and school shoes. Again at whatever they cost to source. Each child also has a pair of sturdy walking boots. DD has grown out of hers at the moment and her next pair will have to be plain black as she's started sea cadets so will wear them for that too. I think they will be scarily expensive.
